Dryer lint and a little petroleum jelly make for an easy to light firestarter. They compress down nicely, so a bunch of them will fit in a small medicine jar too.

I do the same thing with cotton balls, and keep them in a travel case soap dish(holds a couple of dozen). Have these in my BOB. Makes a great little fire starter that lasts for 1-2 minutes. These are also easily lit off with flint and steel, or magnesium devices.
