My 23 year old sister went in for a TEE procedure today, and has not come back from the anesthesia. Staff called a stroke alert for a possible air embolism in the brain.

She has a husband and a 2 year old baby.

There's a condition that runs in my family where some individuals lack the pseudocholinesterase enzyme to break down anesthesia. They've all woken up eventually. Praying that's what it is.

CT is negative for stroke/embolism and she finally has woken up and started talking. They found a previously undiagnosed Atrial Septal Defect. Can caused heart attacks and stroke in people in their 20’s.

Her two year old daughter has it as well and will need intervention for closure around age five.

My sister will have to have heart surgery to close the ASD, but Thank God, thank the physicians and thank you all for the prayers, she didn’t have a stroke today.

It’s been a good two and a half years of medical issues for her and her baby, and my brother in law has a bald spot that I know came from all of this. Not even joking.
