I’ll start with this if your not in shape your not going far on foot. I live in the city Houston Texas and being in a urban setting there is not much for woods, brush or anything like that. I have found a few spots here and there close to home. Bushwhacking is hard you work muscles that you never knew you had. As for going on a long walk/hike/hump with a large pack not possible. I have started to get out and test my skills. It’s not all about knowing how to make a fire. It’s about knowing how to make a fire after your dog tired and it’s raining. I have practice my so called survival skills on a nice day in my backyard. It’s so easy a caveman can do it. I’ve been taking long walks with my pack and bike riding for a month now and I do see improvement and lost weight in the process. Do I plan on bugging anywhere no. but I could be at work and have to get to my family. Running is my next step knees are sore right now. Not only practice your skill practice your skills in much less than idea situations. Rain, snow, hot, cold, dark and tired. For those that don’t know survival is not fun, practicing it is not fun. If your having fun your not doing it right.
I have started to venture out to the state parks and wooded areas away from the city. I plan to be dropped off and try and make it home.
