This appeared on survivalblog.com and I thought it was informative.

Snippet:

"The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 (Pub. L. 18 USC P 1385) was supposed to keep the U.S. Military from enforcing local and federal law, or assisting local law enforcement in that duty. Well before the Posse Comitatus Act was passed, Congress passed the Insurrection Act of 1807 (Pub. L. 10 USC 331 thru 335), which was a “set of laws that govern the ability of the President to deploy U.S. troops on American soil.” Such deployment could only come at the request of a governor of the state in which an event was taking place requiring a larger military force. This all changed after Hurricane Katrina, where the Louisiana governor did not request federal troops to restore order. Congress went ahead and modified the Insurrection Act as follows:"

Unfortunately, many on this site want the military to be involved in the enforcement of domestic laws, including crimes and civil misdemeanors.

A wise man once stated that the greatest reason to retain the Right to keep and bear Arms is, as a last resort, to prevent tyranny in government. If laws like Posse Comitatus cannot protect us, then the citizenry must form into civilian militias and hold the government accountable.

The act only prohibits the military conducting domestic law enforcement. It does NOT prohibit the military from conducting military operations within the US, and it all goes out the window with a simple declaration of martial law (totally different animal).

But the government has proved over the past few years that it doesn't care what the law it, they will do as they want.

Posse Comitatus didn't save the "Bonus Marchers" in 1932. This action by federal troops against unarmed citizens was led by Macarthur and Patton . They called it an unfortunate but necessary action lol.
Washington The District of Criminals (aka Sodom on the Potomac) is a federal territory and not part of a state it is controlled by a military governor, commanding the Military District of Washington.

Therefore PCA does not apply in that instance, so bad example.

Posse Comitatus did not protect the Branch Davidians from Klinton either
And anti-rape laws didn't protect those little kids from being raped either.

I get the point, but I can't stand that the people on these boards love the damn rapist Davidians so much.

George Washington led troops against Americans during the whiskey rebellion .
And the Posse Comitatus lists no exemption for Government property or reservation . Otherwise they could send troops to Indian reservations which they cannot .
