Does anyone still make one? I have a Sterling and a Beretta but both have been discontinued.

Would like to know if there are any new ones out there and if they are any good.

Thanks.

if you want to carry with a round chambered your options are pretty limited, the George Jennings striker fired single action design(loosely based on the Walther model 9) that most Saturday night specials use isn't really safe, the HP22, taurus', berettas, PPK/S, are all safer but they are also big compared to the alternatives such as the 950 jetfire and baby browning

of course "pocket" size is really a term open to interpretation. some people can't fit a baby browning in their pockets while i consider a subcompact glock a pocket gun

my opinion is unless it's a range gun you might as well get a .32 since 22lrs are just as big with the exception of the jennings(now jimenez) all the .22lrs look to be bigger then a kel tec p32 which isn't small for a .32. the .32/380 centerfires are one of the reasons there's less 22/25 pocket guns on the market now. it seems every year .22lr pistols are steering towards target vs carry and more and more lightweight 380's come out
i don't want to throw this thread off topic but i had to say that

of course if it is solely a range gun size and safety with one in the pipe are nowhere near as big of factors. in which case that hp22 is really nice for the price.

I have a Beretta 21a, little tip up barrel 22.
Great gun, even have a crimson trace laser grip on it.
But, for the size, you can get a larger caliber. Infact, a Kel Tec P32 is smaller and has more pop.

What is the potential threat?
The Bertta 21a has a tilt up barrel and the safety works hammer up or down .
First round can be double or single action and unloading as simple as droping the mag and poping the barrel ,you don't have to rack it to load or unload.
Completely one handed.
My brother hasn't a left hand, so this works perfect for him.
He would love a larger calibur weapon, but no one builds one exactly like that.

I have a stainless steel sterling, you can find replacement parts for most of it, what is the reason you must have a current production mini .22? What about a NAA, it's not a semi-auto but for a tiny .22 that is more of a benefit IMO. Almost none of these tiny .22s are reliable with differing ammo. My sterling will eat up Federal and Winchester but CCI hollow points won't chamber after a shot without assistance.

another option would be finding a really nice, used Iver Johnson TP22. i liked them because of their exposed hammer and double action. owned one for a number of years then, regretfully, sold it. :(
the Phoenix Arms i have now is a decent replacement for the old TP22, but i miss the double action.

I know someone who has one of those, and they seem like a nice pistol. The ones I have seen for sale at gun shops were in between 430 and 500 for the bodyguard. That seems like a lot for what it is, but maybe they had really high prices.

Never had a problem with my Beretta 21a...when you shoot Auguila Super Maximum's out of it into paper it leaves a very large, perfectly round hole. It looks like a .45acp wadcutter went through the paper.

I've heard of people silencing them and then they become jam-o-matic's. A little bit large, but probably much more reliable in the long run is a Ruger SR22...wife shot one over 500 times in one day (that was straight out of the box) in a pistol class. Never had issues. She shot CCI mini-mags and Federal high velocity.

Beretta doesn't make the 86 cheetah any more.
If so, I would have seen it on their web site.
Best I can hope for is finding a good used one.
Now just think , if they could make a 9MM the size/style of the 21A.
It would be such a hot ticket I'd buy 2.

Have a Taurus PT22, tip up barrel model. Not great, but works. Usually carried in a pocket of my jacket. Like to shoot pop cans or clay birds set on a stand/tree, whatever.
Jams on soft lead ammo, no issues with JHP/or just jacketed.(Yellow Jacket 22 lr.)
Goes well with a Ruger 10-22, as a back up.
