A long time ago I heard this guy on the radio say you should not compost with pine straw. He said something about an acid in the pine straw was not good for other plants.

I am wondering if anyone adds pine straw to their compost bin? This coming weekend I need to start a compost bin. I have some cattle panel that is 52 inches tall and about 20 feet long. This panel was going to be shaped into a circle, that will be about 6 feet in diameter.

Any suggestions?

Kev, My understanding is that pine straw that is old and leached out by rain and sun is fine, but some people love the fresh stuff for blueberrys.
