I recently thought that physical conditioning is as much of a nessisity as any other Prep. Depending on the type of SHTF situation, conditioning could mean life or death for you and your loved ones. My thought is that Preppers should have a minume level of fitness. Here is what I've come up with as a starting point.

Mile run:
Min: 12 Minutes
Goal: < 10 minutes

Military style Push-ups
Min: 20
Goal: > 40

Pull-ups
Min: 5
Goal: > 10

True but it's been thought of already. There is a subforum which has been created for fitness. You will find it if you scroll down a bit on the front page of SurvivalistBoards.

Welcome to SB! Hope to see you make many useful contributions to the group! :)

Yes, staying healthy is one of the most important parts of survival. Besides exercise there is the issue of smoking, and a healthy diet. Although it is more fun buying 10000 rounds of your favorite type of ammo.

Also recommend walking as much as within reason. In the heat or the cold. When the gas stations don't run anymore you'll wish you had.
Most of my friends don't have cars, six miles is within walking distance, just not during the heat of the day (people can die from that here.)

Yeah I started cycling again a couple of months ago with a view to getting the fitness levels up again. I do at least a couple of 10 mile rides a week. A couple of nights ago I thought I'd go for a short jog. H#ly Sh#t, when I was done it felt like someone had taken to my shins with a baseball bat  I am undaunted and will go out again, it can only get easier:)

Gotta love those I-pods:thumb:

Another thing you could look into doing is hiking with a pack on, maybe around 20lbs or so. If thats to much, go less weight. Work up to a decent distance and you can modify by going up hills, faster pace, or more weight.
