I hate to ask this, but I've been out of touch for a bit. Can you give some background on what was going on in Chicago when these were taken? Or was this like some mundane occurrence there?? Wild photos!

Yes indeed the NATO Summit.

I'm on my blackberry at the moment but there was a big deal where a bunch of veterans threw their medals. At whom I'm not sure. If no one posts the youtube video I will when I get home.

Don't know how effective bike mounted police would be fighting occupy-type rioters. Using a shield and baton would be tough while trying to ride.

Horses have done poorly in combat since the Poles tried to use cavalry troops against tanks and machine guns in WW2. Against tear gas and molitov cocktails, the worse the horses could do is trample a few innocents underfoot.

saw some footage where some of these OWS clowns got in some officers face and he is seen punching the **** out of the loser.. i loved that....

And apparently an officer was stabbed? At least I think i heard the right....

It's basically a mobile barricade. They line up and 1 cop is basically taking place of 3 with interlocking bikes.

Some protesters are calling for the dissolution of NATO, the 63-year-old military alliance.

I could live with the above happening.

The first 2 images are from the North West Side neighborhood, Ravenswood Manor. Thats where Mayor Rahm Emanuel lives and was where Gov Rod Blagojevich lived before he moved to Colorado.

That neighborhood is far from the downtown area and for the residents who are not involved in politics and/or business related to NATO, it was good for all those police to be around.
