What's everybody's take on the missing van life girl, and the boyfriend's refusal to talk? The cynical part of me thinks that this is a publicity stunt for their youtube channel. If the boyfriend did kill her, he's an idiot for driving her van all the way home without saying anything, and now refusing to talk (although I can't blame him for not talking to the FBI, they'd find some way to charge him with lying).

If it is a hoax, not sure they can charge anyone. It's the parents who are making all the stink, and they don't know. The boyfriend isn't speaking at all. No proof the girl knows what's going on if she is alive and just hiding out. If she was killed up in Wyoming, the bears might get the body and it'll never be found.

My gut feeling is something happened to her. Her last pics online are IMO very likely faked {it shows her with freshly professionally dyed roots and that's not really something that you tend to do on that type of trip}.

Also no offense, but the way he's not talking to authorities & just drove back to Florida is very suspect. You don't just abandon someone you've been dating for that long without something happening. Either he did something {be it intentionally or not} OR they had a fight & she stormed off with someone else and he doesn't want to admit he messed up. It's also entirely possible they had a fight and then she was taken by a 3rd party. We just don't know, and without him talking, it's hard to guess.

If it were the publicity stunt, I would have expected his behavior to be very different. He'd have been the first one calling for things, not her parents. Or he would at least lead them into it.

I don't have the stats at hand but JMO very few missing persons cases end up finding a live person. And generally, unless they are young or old and die of hypothermia, most don't die from natural causes.
The Murdaugh family drama (lawyer who hired his own hit man) is certainly interesting.

Anytime a situation like this happens, the FIRST person/ people they look at are spouses or boyfriends. The fiancé isn’t doing himself any good either in the eyes of the police or public. If the story IS true, first off what man just leaves his fiancé halfway from home, returns to his house, and doesn’t report anything to
the police? Then, won’t assist or help the family or police, but instead hides at his parents house? Not plausible.
On the other hand, if this is some type of internet influencer hoax, they BOTH should be tried for it.
I know there are laws against making false reports, but that wouldn’t apply here as nobody has done that, but in the age of YouTube, and people doing this stuff online for a “look at me moment”, it’s time for laws to be written to shut that crap down.

Why is this a bigger news story than the crisis at the border, Biden's botched Afghanistan withdrawal, playing the fear card again (no food stamps or Medicaid because of the Trump tax cuts) or the other myriad of national issues we have at the moment?

Don't get me wrong. I feel for the family. Their child is missing. The boyfriend (who looks sketchy IMO) is not talking. Something clearly amiss. But why is THIS the headline over the destruction of the country that is currently going on?

I haven’t followed the saga too close be have read a few articles. Am a little surprised with all the phone tracking, credit card reports, data collection through phones, and cameras capturing license plates that they haven’t been able to zero in a little more.

Other than the drama who done it part of this story I really don't understand why its top headlines national news. People go missing all the time. Put it out on local broadcasts to look for her and that's it. Why so much attention? Seems odd. Agree with AZ_HighCountry.

I don't know what to think on this one. I'm kind of paying attention as it is fairly local. My guess is she left him, wandered off and never came back, or he had something to do with it. Just odd to drive all the way back to Florida and not say anything. Why even come back, you would have to know somebody would notice she wasn't there and start asking questions. I guess just one reason I don't understand people.

Crazy PYT. He put up with the crazy because of the PYT + easy access to "a warm place to put it," as Dr. Laura says.

The crazy intensified on the long trip when he couldn't get away from her. She had slapped and scratched him by the time the cops had pulled them over.

He made sure their final argument some time later was whipped up and severe enough that she stormed off - to the extent that he felt relatively safe extricating himself from the situation and driving home. That's why he didn't report her missing: she wasn't missing, she was all wrapped up in her crazy and left.

Then Something Bad happened to her, but it wasn't the boyfriend, more likely some opportunistic monster.

That's my $.02 on what very limited information is available at the moment.

And yes, this being a national story has to do with her being a PYT and the media needing an "exciting" distraction at the moment.

Kinda odd that they since July til "vanishing" only managed to upload ONE video? not much of an effort, especially not for a new channel... the general rule of thumb is to put up 1 video daily for the first 30 days, then change to a weekly video or more.

The vanishing? shrug Something bad happened and he is scared to be blamed for it... If he did it or not I don't know... Don't care. Doubt it is a gimmick to promote their channel... That would get very expensive for them fast.

You do know what happens when you assume stuff right? ;-) never assume...

It might be as simple as "they got separated, he waited for X time, gave up, went home" or "she fell off a cliff, he got scared shizless thinking he would be blamed, went home, stuff went nuts so he vanishes to be free of all the bs" or "she was annoying as fudge, he killed her, he was stupid enough to think nothing would happen if he didn't talk, he went home"... or a million other things could have happened

Just because a girl is ‘pretty’ or ‘hotness personified’, that doesnt eliminate nuttiness..or crazy…or a friggin lunatic…Just IME, it kinda emphasizes it(craziness)or at least lets it run free….First time she stuck her nails at me one of us would be walking away…Id give her the vehicle and go bush. She seems like a twit so that she prob walked off into the woods and he let her go…should have taken a cell video for proof thought…hope the bears scattered the bones good enough…jmo
