I have some MREs whose shelf life has expired or will expire in the next time.
Thus I will have a lot of plastic waste left after eating the MREs- and there will be also some little packages of "oxygen absorber" left.
The brand is "ageless" - are they useful for any means anymore or just waste to throw in the trashcan?

I scored a gallon jar full of dessicant packs from our local pharmacy.
Put them in our dehydrator for about 4 hours and their is good as new.
Throw a couple in our mylar bags befor sealing.
The price is right........Alaskan.....Dennis....

remember that a dessican is for absorbing water from the air, versus the actual o2 absorbers that take oxygen from the air.

Well, i believe it is an oxygen observer, mostly, because it has written "Ageless Oxygen Absorber Do not eat" written all over it.... ;)

I am pretty sure i cannot use it anymore, but wanted to make sure...

Yep, if it is an oxygen absorber, it will be useless after being exposed to air for even a short period of time.
