One of the most important considerations you can make is the pack. Look for one that uses YKK self repairing zippers. The pack in the video is a Maxpedition Falcon II Pygmy.

Inside of the pack I carry:
Hammock
Rain Poncho
Poncho liner
Food
First Aid kit
GPS
2 Compasses
TOPO Maps
Gerber Multitool
Water Filter
Water Bottle
Nylon Cord
And a lot of other stuff.

i use either 550, or trout line nylon string, if i need the cord back i untie the 550, and i carry a couple of carabiners with my 550, i don't really need it , i use trout line cord, and let it rot away.
i carry a 5 qt, on the top back of the ruck/ pack, this allows me to not have to refill for awhile. and 6 flea and tick collars one on each limb, 6 small iodine / antiseptic wipes to prevent tick bites from spreading yellow fever/
and finally a small esbit stove with fuel tabs
