And for those of us less skilled in the kitchen:
For those a little skilled in the kitchen, those contain pasta, basic cream sauce (fat, flour, milk) and some flavoring ingredients. Deconstructing the fake ingredients/chemical soup on the labels, it boils down to:

The plain adds salt, carrots, parsley, msg, yeast extract, spice, and flavor. Use Marmite, a little nutmeg and paprika, and some miso/nutritional yeast for the last 4.

The cheesy flavor uses buttermilk in place of part of the milk, yeast extract, annatto for added color, probably a little paprika, and adds cheddar cheese plus a touch of blue cheese.

The broccoli uses buttermilk in place of part of the regular milk and adds broccoli and a pinch of parsley plus a little yeast extract (aka Marmite).

There is a little sugar or corn syrup in them all as well, for which there is no need, but put in a pinch of sweetener if you feel compelled.

If you have pasta, butter/ghee/lard/oil, flour/cornstarch, powdered milk and buttermilk, cheese powders/freeze-dried cheese, freeze-dried or dehydrated broccoli/parsley and basic cooking ingredients and spices in your pantry, you can help your own tuna less expensively, even make up your own packets of ready-to-mix helpers.

Optionally, consult any of 1001 tuna and pasta casserole recipes out there.

Wow, that is worthy of the Gallery of Regrettable Food: LILEKS (James) :: Institute :: The Gallery of Regrettable Food
You evil, evil person. Now I'm going to have to revisit my mother's cooking browsing that site over my after-dinner chai.

Funeral potatoes are an LDS tradition for any occasion that demands showing up with a casserole dish in hand. Check a recipe online, they are fairly harmless. :D

ETA: Although I can't speak for the stuff in that can. Looks like chemical alphabet soup at a quick glance. I've only had the original version starting from fresh potatoes and actual dairy. That Augason version might well be "your funeral" potatoes, lol. Yeesh!

PS: To rescue funeral potatoes from canned cream of chicken and cornflakes purgatory, use julienned or diced fresh potatoes, make your own chicken cream sauce, and top with crumbled toasted/fried spicy papadum instead of cornflakes or potato chips to give the darn stuff some seasoning (I recommend the ones with hot green chilis and garlic in them, cumin in addition optional). Just don't feed that to a LDS; they apparently only like their food either bland or blander.

The midwestern variant is hot dish. Sub tater tots for frozen hash browns and proceed down the road to culinary perdition in much the same way.

For Thanksgiving, substitute green beans for potatoes, cream of mushroom for cream of chicken, and fried onions for cornflakes/potato chips. (It's a holiday, make it special!)

Congratulations, you have now mastered the basic Family Circle/Good Housekeeping recipe collection for casserole occasions, brought to you courtesy of Campbell's, Ore-Ida, Kellogg's, and French's. :D

(Once upon a time people just cooked up sliced potatoes with sour cream/cream sauce with or without cheese and/or onions, added meat/fish optional, season to taste, top with buttered bread crumbs/grated cheese. If very simple, it was a scalloped potato side dish. Gussied up and fortified, it was a main dish casserole. But that didn't sell anybody's processed food, so enter food corporation home economists tasked with inventing more ways to use their employers canned and packaged crap in unholy alliance with the publishers of women's magazines. In a generation, everyone forgets how to do it from scratch. Another generation, and the same recipes have to be pre-made and microwave ready in the freezer case. And then someone concocts a largely fake-food version that will keep 30 years in a can. Ta-da!)

I picked them up, and the kids and I will give them the taste test. When we go camping, the goal is we either eat what we can catch, or eat the older preps just as a test.
