I am new to cannaning...I was going to make some beef stew this weekend & thought that i would can the left overs or make a whole pot just for canning..my question is can i make the stew the way i want ?..I belive it calls for 1 1/2 hours at 10lbs would that be correct?..thanks in advance for the help..

Also what is the shelf life..

Mr it depends on your altitude and ingredients consult the book that came with your canner if you have one. i cant speak to the shelf life.

I think you could cook your stews, soups and sauces however you like them, then just follow the directions on canning times.

I'm new to canning myself but that's what I intend to do.
