Old MRE's

Crack one open and make sure it's still good. If so, give to the homeless.

If the squeeze cheese is brown, give it to a "deserving" BIL.:

I have eaten a 16 year old "MRE", it was fine. I wouldnt put them in a position where you rely on them. Check one and if its still good put in with the rest of your preps and eat it first. A MRE stored at 60F it rated to be good for 10years. They do last longer as I have eatin the proof!:thumb:

I have eaten MRE's that were over 15 years old when I was in the Marines. These MRE's were stored in a warehouse with no electricity in the dessert with temps getting into the 120's in the summer. They did not taste that bad, but they made me constipated.

I dont care what anyone says those things do not have a self life mres will out last man!

My husband told me that they deliberately formulate MRE's to be constipating so that in the heat of battle no one would need to be using the little boy's room.

I'm not exactly sure that's the fact of the matter, though. My husband has come out with some real doozies from time to time.

rotate them- take them camping and order a new stock if it worries you

I've got some M.R.E.'s from the late 80's down in the basement. Have to give them a try.
And it was the old C-rations that would bind you up. Went for 4 days without a dump.
I got very nasty, as I am very regular.......Alaskan....

those C rats had their use, I heard those tins of peanut butter made GREAT peanut oil lamps. smelled great too

I broke a few down, Looks good so far... My wife says the carmels are still tasty...

Thats not too far off the mark...lol...

I am looking to buy a case or two of canadian MREs.
Anyone north of the 49th have any sources?
Apparently i cant mail order them from the USA because the department of agriculture forbids importation of MREs now.. DOH! Even the surplus stores here cant get them anymore.
