Looks like the Avengers have arrived.

Is it automatically tracking that helo?
Thats exactly what it is doing and does. You can mount it on just about anything you want, so even if the Hummv goes down you can stick it on the back of a truck if you want.

Here is a little snibbit about it.

New vid from an international unit. This is the same group that trapped and killed Spetsnaz troopers in a previous vid.

Filmed the opening day of the Kharhiv offensive last fall.

They were assigned "clean up" duty and, while advancing across a field, captured a Russian POW. He was the sole survivor from his squad.

Subtitles establish the setting in the opening minutes and the "action" starts @ 3:40.

Like these? :)

I'm not buying the claim that they were all destroyed in one night, though.

I don't know much about these specific night attacks, but looking at that video reveals at least two major facts --

First, (from both what one can see and the apparent outcome) these tanks don't have any sort of overhead cover at all. Even a roll of your basic Home Depot suburban chain link cyclone fencing - if stretched and supported over top of the tank - might be sufficient to stop these charges from detonating directly on the tank. This shows a basic failure of fundamental dispersal and defensive discipline.

Second, those are thermal cameras on the drones. Thermal night vision units offer tremendous advantages over an adversary that isn't using night vision equipment. Any time a Russian unit without night vision is up against a night attack by UAF units WITH night vision, the unit with thermal night vision devices is likely to win. Bigly.

Uke tank was hit by a Russian ATGM, but survived thanks to reactive armor.

Primarily filmed from inside the tank with the impact being audible @ :35.

Glad the crew members survived.

The last part is pretty interesting - I've not previously seen the aftermath of a reactive armor detonation in response to an ATM hitting the tank. It looks like it explodes outward to counter the shaped charge in the ATM round. Glad it worked. From what I've read the T-64 tanks are considered to be (if not exactly obsolete) a less-well-armored version of the T-72s that many of the UAF tank units have now. I wonder if that one was captured from the Russians...

An Insider interview with three Russian contract soldiers. “I'd rather go to jail than add to the chaos.” How and why Russian contract servicemen evade war in Ukraine

The Insider is a Pro-Russian outlet but very anti-Putin and very anti-Stupid Military Operation.
Asag,

Thanks for posting this article. I've found very few viewpoints written by Russian soldiers regarding specifics involving their perceptions of the war and the difficult choices they're faced with.

the reactive armor is designed to explode outward to disrupt the frontal jet of the shape charge that modern ATGM's use. Modern armor has such thick armor that a standard explosive charge isnt going to do much but scrape the paint. You gotta hit that steel with a shaped charge of molten metal.. Copper is among the favorites of IED makers.. If you look at the RPG warhead you can clearly see the funnel shape that is designed to force a jet of molten metal into the target. It melts the outer steel layers and caries them with it into the interior of the target.. Isnt man smart in his ability to kill each other

if it was captured from the Russians the reactive armor would have been made of cardboard or plywood

even if Russia somehow manages to take Ukraine they will have years of dealing with a insurgency that will be well equipped and well trained in the manufacture and employment of EFP's. The lessons we learned in Afghanistan and Iraq are now institutionalized knowledge and is part of the Army SF training doctrine for indigenous forces.. If Russia wins THEY will then have to deal with the dragon... AND from what ive seen so far of RUssias ability to adapt on the battlefield I don't hold out much hope for them. Im sure some will disagree

Yes. The war is going to kick off in a week now and they are not going to be able to ride the fence.
They've been riding the fence for over a year. I don't expect that to change until the russia takes a bite out of their ass. All they've been doing with regards to the Sweden/Finland NATO membership is throw tantrums and try to get noticed. They are mad that they won't be getting F-35s so now they are parading their own "stealth" fighter which if all goes well won't be in service until 2030.

Looks amazingly like a F-22 copy. Don't they all?

Biden administration quietly resumes deportations to Russia
Exclusive: Apparent reversal of position adopted after invasion of Ukraine sends men fleeing Putin’s draft back to Russia

The Biden administration has quietly resumed deportations to Russia, an apparent reversal of the position adopted after Russia invaded Ukraine just over a year ago, when such removals were suspended, the Guardian has learned.

Immigration advocates were taken by surprise when a young Russian man, who came to the US fleeing Vladimir Putin’s efforts to mobilize citizens to fight in Ukraine, was abruptly deported at the weekend from the US back to Russia.

He was among several Russian asylum seekers, many of whom have made their way to the US in the last year, who are now terrified the US government will return them to Russia where they could face prison or be sent rapidly to the frontline, where Russia has seen tens of thousands of casualties.

“US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) remains committed to enforcing immigration laws humanely, effectively and with professionalism. Ice facilitates the transfer and removal of non-citizens via commercial airlines and chartered flights in support of mission requirements,” the federal agency said this week, adding: “Ice conducts removals to countries, including Russia, in accordance with country removal guidelines.”

News of resumed deportations to Russia came just over a year after reports that the Biden administration had suspended deportation flights to Russia, Ukraine and seven other countries in Europe during Russia’s attack on Ukraine. It is unclear when deportations to Russia resumed. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

...

Meanwhile, Ice noted to the Guardian that: “US immigration laws allow non-citizens to pursue relief from removal – including credible fear proceedings; however, once all due process and appeals have been exhausted, and non-citizens remain subject to a final order of removal from an immigration judge, Ice officers may carry out the removal.”
