Things are heating up again. Britain decided to cruise a destroyer along the coast of Crimea. Russia tried to run it off, Britain just ignored them. Russia even got to the point of firing warning shots and dropping bombs in front of the destroyer and they did nothing, eventually continuing on to the Black Sea. A reporter on the ship exposed things as a witness plus pictures and audio of the ship being buzzed and the crew at battle stations, the Royal Navy denied anything happened, The Russians posted all the video of them buzzing the ship, commercial satellite photos show the whole thing, Royal Navy still denied it.

Russia has now said that if the UK does it again the bombs will be on target. UK says fine, but they're going to do it again. China is jumping in as well saying that if Russia starts shooting they're going to join in and start shooting too.

We could be looking at anything from an international incident to WW3. Totally unknown, but everyone seems primed to pick a fight. It's also Taiwan invasion season still. They have until the end of July before the weather turns too bad. Might be a good time to check those major war preps and plans. We're thinking of breaking down and just getting a traditional large storm shelter put in to tide us over until we can eventually get the underground house built.

Why can't both happen?
Both will happen. The US will sit both out.

USA is sending more offensive weapons to Ukraine
With such Western support there is no desire on Keiv's part to make peace!
They can use Ukraine to keep pressure on Russia at very little cost.
Could be possible to force Russia to take a active role when Keiv starts offensive in 2022
Links for this?

Ukraine is in no position to launch an offensive against Russia.

Russia is taking a page from the 1930s Germany playbook. Ethnic Germans and all that. The world appeased Hitler then. The world seems content with appeasing Putin now,

I'm watching it live. It flew to DC but didn't land and flew back west. Landing at Wright-Patterson in Dayton Ohio for some reason. No idea who they're picking up.
What are you watching it live on?

An app called FlightRadar 24 though there's numerous websites and apps that track air traffic.
I frequently use FlightRadar24. Was not able to search by the call sign.

I've already written Ukraine off. Dopey Joe will do nothing. The EU will do nothing. Poland has already had a couple of visits from the Red hordes and it didn't bode well for them either time. Russia still occupies a significant portion of east Poland. I'm sure they wouldn't mind taking a little more.

Biden will need to give Putin a stern talking to.
That is if Dopey Joe remembers that is. I can see him now saying "that Russian fellow from Moscow, you know, that guy".

So if Russia and Ukraine go to war. What Impacts can we see here? I assume the US would apply sanctions to Russia.
The US will do nothing.

They aren't sensing weakness in the White House. They KNOW there is weakness in the White House.

my gut says the biden admin is using this whole thing to try to move the media focus, like when they murdered that aid worker during the afghanistan pullout.
The past two weeks have been a disaster for Dopey Joe. Now he's out there telling businesses they should ignore the SCOTUS ruling. I guess he's like the traditional captain; rather than admit defeat and move on, he's bound and determined he's going down with the ship.

Even though the media has his poll numbers in the low 30s, the fact of the matter is, as I have posted numerous times, those who ask the questions control the outcome; the pollsters are working hard to keep his numbers above 30. I would wager his true numbers are in the mid 20s. He's absolutely horrible at this. So ANY distraction off of him is welcome.

Maybe we should just sit this one out. We don't have a very good track record at the moment dealing with or supporting insurgencies.

Been listening to Fox News radio reports most of day announcing the US has credible evidence of the Russians planning a false flag attack to justify an invasion of Ukraine. While I have a number of reasons to NOT believe US intelligence at this time, it does make one wonder why Russia would follow the German playbook? Germany's invasion of Poland was preceded by the attack at Gleiwitz. At first it made no sense to me until I remembered the Russians followed the German playbook for their Crimea and Georgia adventures.

Russia tried that in 1939.

Argentina invaded the UK meaning the US would be obligated to defend the UK but not obligated to defend Argentina as the attacker. However the UK handled it on their own and the US just provided intel to the UK.
Even today you will find "Viva las Malvinas!!" signs on the streets of Buenos Aires.

How about we don't. Americans are paying higher heating costs this winter thanks to the idiotic policies of this administration. Let the Europeans figure it out.

As for naval superiority, I'm not sure we have the forces to do so. Our Navy is a shell of what it once was and the Royal Navy even worse IMO.
