Obama: Our Constitution fundamentaly flawed.......How do you take an oath to protect and preserve it then? What will he do to destroy the "flawed" Constitution? Can anyone guess what he has in mind?

It's sort of hard to tell with the quote being taken completely out of context. I would imagine that the RNC would be making political hay out of a quote like that if they could. I would be interested in seeing the full context of the quote.

The constitution was flawed (slaves counted as 3/5 of a person, no women's vote, etc.), is still flawed (it doesn't delineate which, out of the universe of moderns "Arms" that citizens should be able to own) and will continue to be flawed.

The constitution cannot be amended fast enough to keeps up with the rapidly changing realities of modern life. Therefore, it's up to politicians and judges to battle it out as to the types of interpretations of the consitution that they believe should be guiding laws and policies.

I have a pretty well developed idea (IMO) of what the constitution "means" but it differs with what lots of other people's idea of what the constitution means. Most people agree on the main points, but the devil is in the details. The constitution doesn't do a great job, in many cases, of going into the details, which leaves people having to make interpretations. Liberals tend to make interpretations in on way, and conservatives in another. But they're both making interpretations based on an imperfect document.

Nor should it.. Patriots of 1776 were allowed to own cannons if they so pleased. The cannon of that day represents the extreme firepower of the time, and the average person living under the constitution of today should be allowed to own anything he or she can handle. Sure, accidents will happen, but those accidents are collateral damage compared to the idea of our rights being whittled away by people like your beloved Obama, who doesn't want to take our guns away for OUR safety, it's HIS he and the other ruling clowns are concerned with. And so they should be.. Both McCain and Obama will love to get more constitution trampling gun laws passed.. There is no reason why any person or organized militia should not be allowed to own the same firepower and technology that the US military has.

Obama will trample our constitution and bill of rights one way, and McCain will do so another.. Anyone who thinks they each aren't a danger to the constitution, as George Bush is, is in total denial.

Traitors deserve one thing.. And it isn't a vote from a citizen in a voting booth..

Ah, ye olde 3/5 of a person again. Slave states wanted to overwhelm congress with their influence. The number of congressional seats per state was decided by the population of that state. Slaves were made to count as 3/5 of a person by the non-slave North, so as to limit their count toward the slave states congressional seat number. This was to keep the slave states from taking over entirely. If they had counted as a whole number, the civil war may not have ever needed to be fought. Slavery would have been a much tougher thing to eradicate.

Wish I had time to continue. Gotta go!

I almost agree with you and that's a first. ;) However, I don't think that anyone should be allowed the same firepower as our military but only because there are too many individuals that would misuse that firepower. Have you seen the nuts on the street? Very scary because only they are right and everyone else is wrong.

I was trying to send email to the New Mexico Constitutional Militia they have a movement here to protect the constitution. Every time I clicked send my computer lost its connection. Now I am not sure but the last time the power in the house went off and it reset my Dish TV and the computer. Now Jakester is an outspoken radical who hates what the government is doing to our country. So what do you think was this just a fluke. I think I have been watched for some time because I voice my belief very openly. It seems we are under attack right now and they are doing everything they can to discredit anyone who speaks out against the system. Sorry I know this is breaking away from this post somewhat but it is happening way to often.

Since nothing is perfect, the constitution is flawed. Sure. Everything is "flawed".

In the flawed dept, "hippie" outdid (even) himself claiming that the constitution is flawed because it defines slaves as 3/5 of a person. wow. If he can find that in the constitution maybe he can also find the part that says he outta try reading it before decideding how to improve it.

Mr. Obama certainly isn’t the candidate who’s had the longest experience in Washington. But he is the candidate with two decades of experience bringing people together to solve common challenges as a community organizer, civil rights attorney, law professor, state Senator, and now U.S. Senator.

The entire interview is on another thread here. The one in which he supports wealth redistribution by name....

For all you anti-American weenies, the constitution is as valid today as it was when it was written. To say it is flawed is the picture of socialistic anti-Americanism and the picture of government brainwashed nimrods who should definately leave before all of us that will defend that constitution, have to defend it from all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC....

Spoken like a true government agent. Slavery was on the way out. The industrial North wanted it all their way so their buddy the tyrant Lincoln went to war. (The whole time his old lady owned her own slaves)

But you keep spreading that tired 'civil war = eradication of slavery' propaganda though. If it makes you feel better.

His pencil neck experience adds up to exactly squat... It was all black aimed and radical organization. That is not the experience to run a walmart much less this country...

Here's a flash, he is a socialist. If you want socialism, vote for him. Not the lies he and his sheeple spread...

In the last several weeks, Barack Obama has laid out a foreign policy vision that restores American leadership in the world, rebuilds our military, secures all loose nuclear weapons within four years, and doubles our investment in weak and failing states. And he’s laid out a universal health care plan that will cut costs for every family by up to $2500 and cover every American. On energy, he went to Detroit and told automakers they had a responsibility to raise our fuel standards so we can save our planet and break our dangerous dependence on oil. He’s talked about how we can stand up to private lenders and reform our student loan system so we can make college more affordable.
