Don't know how much effect it will have since Columbus Day is a bank Holiday. Not to mention, isn't the NYSE closed on that day??

Amazing, anyone who can throw together a cheaply made video can get a little attention! I guess foriegn instigators forgot to check that October 10th is Columbus Day in the U.S.

Anon has been very effective in the past, with their DDOS attacks.... but that's all they are. Blocking websites for a few hours or days is bad but not end of the world disastrous. At any rate, this will be interesting to see

 

Ok, I have to confess something to you guys.

You're gonna rib me about this from now on. Ok so be it.

I used to be in Scientology. It was dreadful. I fell in love with someone who was a Scientologist and ended up getting stuck in it for more than a decade. It is a very harmful group and you get really ensnared and manipulated. I managed to get out, but it was very hard.

The thing is, in 2007, there was a ridiculous video of Tom Cruise and Scnt. didn't like it and tried to get it banned. Anonymous made sure it stayed, and found out about the cult, and then since that time has done numerous very very successful actions to expose and destroy Scientology. This cult is now largely on the way out as a result of anonymous. And that silly video that you just saw, is very similar to the kind of videos they did against that organization, but they proved to be very effective. They did all kinds of stuff to expose the cult, and because they were all over the world and worked like a "hive mind" they were able to get lots of things done that would otherwise not have happened.

I am eternally grateful to the annonymous "hive mind" and their actions and I ave no idea what is going to happen on the 10th, but whatever it is, they will sustain their activities. They NEVER gave up on exposing the cult, they're still doing it until it is gone, which hopefully will be soon now.

 

Anon is indeed a powerful force with regard to exposing secrets. They may be the one positive thing to come out of the 4chan board system. With that said, I don't get the feeling that they have an extremely sophisticated hacking core group. The DDOS attacks are basically like getting all of your buddies to dial the number for pizza hut at the same time, preventing anybody from ordering pizza. Yes its effective but still very primitive.

 

erasing NYSE is serious enough, doesn't need to be anything more fdor them to make their point. I would say they will accomplish this goal,with quite ease. A few years ago some eastern bloc conglomerate hacked into trading firms and executed large trades with your accounts,,fragile system these markets are..

 

The New York Stock exchange is NOT Scientology. If they succeed in taking the NYSE off line, which would stop electronic trading, Anonymous will be hunted down, and assassinated in thier sleep.

Also, Anonymous was originally founded by some Trolls at 4Chan who have some Hacking ability. There is no way they have the capability to shut down the New York Stock exchange with a cyber attack.

*IF* this happens, then it is the CIA that did it, either using Anonymous as thier scapegoat, OR Anonymous has always been the CIA.

 

I don't know if this is legit but if you watch the protesters on the news they have signs that say the 99%

 

Interesting observation. Makes you wonder about any kind of coordination occuring between these groups.

But, 9:30 a.m. here on the West Coast, and nary a peep...

 

Damn, so they're going out of business. Used to make a lot of money off the Scientologists selling them mailbox size rattlesnakes...

 

They might all be asshats but if this is legit, they could be up to something. No computer system on the internet is 100% secure. They might have found a way in or might expose some fairly nasty bug in the system that no one knows about. Unless they found a way in, they could cause some problems but either way, it will be short lived.

As for hunted down and assassinated in their sleep... its not likely... They still haven't found the guys that took BofA down last year.

I call this a bluff. If they were genuine, they obviously wouldn't have announced it beforehand.

 

It is not a bluff. They have a Hx of pre-announcing their attacks. The effectiveness of their efforts are in question.

I've read some stories about things they've done in the past and I would put nothing past them. That said, I'm guessing they went a little far with the following sentence:

"This is why we choose to declare our war against the New York Stock Exchange."

Declaration of war? I guess that means the kid gloves are off? Not at all knowledgabel on the subject but I would guess that gives the government some additional wiggle room on how they combat them if it really does happen.

 

All I can say is "Muhahahaha!"
