Hi - I joined the forum today. I live out in western Montana. My parents were back-to-the-landers and I grew up on a homestead in northern Wisconsin back in the 70s. I guess the survivalism has been ingrained in me since I was little. Seems to be even more important to be prepared these days - even in the middle of Montana!

Anyway - just wanted to post my "hello". Loving some of these threads, and looking forward to learning even more!

Welcome to the forum. We hope you find a good home here. We want this to be a safe place for you. Ask questions. that is the only way any of us learn. I have been a survivalist since I was a kid. My folks were suvivalists as well. It is not a curse. It is a blessing to have family that know what it takes to survive. It is a mindset. The doctors told my mom she had 6 months to live in 1952. She told them she did not have time to die right then. She had a family to raise. She died in 1999.

keep the site in your favs so you can visit regularly. Keep us up to date on how it is going for you. If you have problems with the forum let people know. Best wishes.

Thanks!

Thanks so much! I definitely don't consider the survivalist upbringing to be a curse in any way. When the SHTF, at least I'll have *some* skills under my belt! I'm glad to know there are others raised in the same way - we're lucky to have had the parents we did!

Hi Welcome from the eastside. Just so you know there is a Montana group on here too. You can join the group and someday we may even do something. Maybe next summer we will have the get together we were going to do this summer.

I dream of Montana. My hubs and I stayed with some folks in Argenta and took off on ATVs from sunup to sundown everyday into Beaverhead and the surrounding area. I couldn't get enough. After that we made our way up north to Glacier. Ahhh, beautiful. My favorite state. As a bonus, we got there right at cherry pickin' time. Yum. We had pit a spittin contest. I think I won. Saw lots of black and grizzly bear.

My husband is rebuilding a Cessna Cardinal and the first cross country we do is going to be Montana.

I live in Florida, where we got slammed with three hurricanes in a row. Yuck. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence...
