Hi all. I'm kind of new here. I went to register a couple weeks ago and turns out i already registered a while ago when i was researching. I've been kind of obsessed with watching shows about survival and living off the grid for the last few years. The Colony is probably my favorite. That show made me start researching gasifiers and it went from there. I wouldn't call myself a prepper because i'm not going to store a bunch of food and build a bomb shelter. I do however have a strong interest in becoming self sufficient in case the day comes I do have to scavenge and live off the land. I live in Flint it already looks like SHTF everyday and i already have to constantly guard my house from marauders so government failure doesn't seem unrealistic to me. I don't have a lot of money to invest in preps but i have started collecting archery equipment and Firearms. This year was my first year bow hunting and i didn't get anything but we all have to start somewhere. I started a BOB when i started hunting in case i get lost in the woods. Everywhere around here would be easy to walk out of but i could get in trouble in northern MI if i get lost in a forest. So far i just have an old Jansport school backpack with a pouch for a water bottle. So far i have a couple of knives, magnesium fire starter. deer call, paracord, folding hand saw, sheffield mutifunction tool (leatherman type), a USMC issued first aid kit with iodine tablets, ace bandage, binoculars, and a few other multipurpose items like chap stick and hand sanitizer. I also carry a spare string and allen wrench set for my bow. This site has been really useful so far in helping me grow as a prepper/survivalist or whatever i am. Just want to say hi to everyone and thanks for having me.

Also I have a .22 rifle, single shot .410 and a bolt action 20 ga. with a 2 round clip. Its not much but it will do in a pinch. I would love to get a better rifle for big game but if SHTF i think i would prefer being stealthy with the bow to hunt. My plan is to bug out to the deep woods a couple hrs north if i can make it there. Printed maps of back roads there will be my next prep.

A prepper is a person that prepares for whatever might happen. You are preparing just in case you might need it. I would say you are a prepper. Some people prep at different degrees but I think you are a prepper at a lesser degree than most people.

If I had to live in flint I would work on a good arsenal first. I've been there and it's one big s**t hole just like Detroit.
