This new model is .308 caliber and has a textured earth tone powdercoat finish. Featuring an 18" free floated match grade barrel, vented handguard, extended 9" scope mount, and a removable check riser, the PTR MSR will be a fine addition to a tactical, or hunting rifle collection. Come standard with a 5 rd magazine (does not include the scope). MSRP $1200.00!!!

That looks awesome. I wish they left the stock and trigger pack black and a flash hider would be nice. That front sling swivel looks dumb

They did purchase .223/33/93 tooling to produce ptr32 receivers, iirc. We'll see if they make the next two obvious progressions...

The new specs are straightforward, a very accurate and slimmed down rifle. No sights, no flash hider, etc. The rifle is designed from the get go to be a real "precision target rifle" with a factory upgraded trigger group, using optics only, freefloated match barrel with a target style crown.

The claims from the guys at PTR seem to be 0.75"-1" groups using standard off the shelf ammo...which makes it über half moa capable since I am already ~<1" bench capable with my handloads from my standard 2" claimed PTRs...

Normally I would doubt the manufacturer's claims, but Chris has always been honest. When I asked him about the "match" standard PTRs, the answer was 2", perhaps better with a good ammo and handloads, when asked about the GI, the answer "3-4" service rifle", both modest answers...so we'll see how it goes, as I assure you, I will have one asap....

The jest is it's a $3,000 "PSG Super sniper" with weight and production cost savings along the way...MSRP at $1,200 likely means it's going to be in the G.I. price range....why the hell not? Might sell my older F for a straight trade off since it is the "D.M.R" as of now, the weight savings, factory camo, and welded rail makes it a very convincing even trade off, despite paying more for the F.....since it (odly?) comes powder coated in dark earth from the factory, I won't worry much about bubba-izing, I'll probably add some sort of duracoat "mission spray" pattern over top the base. Tropentarn with a darker hue and more green sounds about right for my a.o.....of course I couldn't hope to be as good as the guys at 7.62...

Oh gee, thanks. I'm really not sure why you shared this, other than to be "that guy"???
Sorry old chum, you shared a new model so I figured I'd do the same....I didn't know this was a midnight Mass peter worship hour:D:. I stand corrected and appologize if I made your peter look small and for any inconvenience I may have caused you.

P.S. That Colt sure is purdy, and it's not destroying the brass:D:

Yep, "that guy"...

You remind me of this guy....I was chatting with a mate at work about buying a new 990, and this random ****er buts in, "but what about the r1200", I hear it's way f*cking better..." Naturally the topic is debateable, and the guy has no idea why I want one, or how it would be used, or why I had already chosen ktm over BMW...no, people just like to be ****heads like that...

There are already a few threads about the new colt rifle, and there are plenty of generic discussions for MBRs here, perhaps my title confused you, but I wanted to introduce a new rifle with a dedicated thread, not debate platforms, have e-penis battles, or see who can spend the most money or be the most tacticool...

Just sharing a virtually unknown rifle, one that hasn't even been officially announced or advertised yet, figured some guys would take some value from that, but I guess not...

Which I may add, as I have new info...will be out around April....
