The best advice is to store what you like to eat, and eat what you store. The food I buy this month goes to the back of the shelf we are eating food I bought 12-18 months ago, except for perishables. My kids call going to the basement "The Store". I also try to keep rice, beans, flour, meal, grits, and bread in a deep freezer this helps extend the life of these items.
