Hello,
I am new here, not to the idea of survivalism. I have been reading and studying it since I was in highschool in the 80's) ( had something to do witih a movie I was required to watch-i cant remember the name of the movie but it was about a nuclear attack and fairly accurate in terms of how bad it would be , the things that would need to be done and such- and the fact that we were doing nuclear attack drills)

Anyway, I am a single mom of a 7 year old who i have just started on how to shoot a 22 lr. She has grown up around the 12 ga and a handgun, so she understands they are not toys... as well as I am a little old fashioned, life and death are part of a natural cycle. When her pony died, her old dog died she was there and saw "death" understanding that they were not coming back.. and she knows guns cause death

ANyway, I am a medic, horse owner( six- they ride, drive, pull, and a couple can carry a pack as well as show in dressage and hunter/jumper- i believe in having them trained ( by myself ) to be able to handle anything asked of them.., dog owner ( german shepherds plus a couple of hard luck rescues)

i have some survival supplies- i can last a week without food or water without thinking.. not enough but our hurricane suppplies. That doesnt include our rice and beans that are always here in bulk, extra salt those kinds of things

I am currently replacing some of my firearms. When my ex-husband and i seperated, I left several weapons in his gun safe.. while i am welcome to get them, we are good friends.. i do not want to visit South Carolina to get them- will pick a couple of them up when i go this summer to take my daughter to visit.. i just would like to have more on hand before that... ( he is a gun fanatic and country boy)
Forgot a couple of things
let's see I was in the Air Force, grew up in the with an old horse vet grandfather who believed in being able to take care of yourself, etc

Anyway, that pretty much covers who and what I am ....

Well flip side of that is my family is from Pecan Point ( near west memphis) and Millington..my grandparents left that area so that they could stop giving services away ( my grandfather was a veternarian and his father kept offering his services for free to all the neighboring farms) so they came south to work with the only vet in the state back then, a german named leonpacker.. anyway, i call this home and keep coming back..having lived in west texas ( abilene), Miss, georgia ( my fave- lived in a small town south of macon) , south carolina.. but if i had my druthers.. i would live in colorado, new mexico etc..

Hello from Central Florida! I like your screenname-"Sporthorse". That's kind of how I got my screenname-"Featherhoof". I have a Fresian Sporthorse mare. If there's no gas available, horses could indeed be very handy. My husband and I have also taught our five year old daughter that guns are not toys. Welcome to the group.
