Funny that this came up as I am looking at a 2019 model rifle my buddy wants to sell me and I believe these are the ones that use the better trigger group and barrel not the old cetme stuff. I heard mixed reviews about the C308 and kinda want to get the PTR, but hes giving me a pretty decent deal and says it shoots fine ( we are going to range to shoot it this weekend ).
He has the old wood furniture and I might swap that for more of a modern look or may just leave as I hear the run on the hot side.
I also have been reading the like to run wet, with a lot of oil/lube, any truth to this. I assume yes as its a roller block design.

I just did a 25 yard zero for 100 yard BZO, and mine was stacking magtech m80 ball in a little more than half inch line vertical.

Have to find a range in Fort Worth that allows fmj rifle ammo, until then I'm stuck with the 25 yard BZO method.

Never has jammed on me yet, and happy surprise, doesn't chew up the casings either.

I had a C308 a few years ago. It did run very reliably but the charging tube was too long which made it difficult to charge at times. I have since sold it and gotten a PTR-91 AS3 and never looked back. But if you have one and it has no issues then it probably won't develop more anytime soon, the HK91/G3 is an excellent firearm design in terms of durability and reliability.

That said I have an older DPMS LR-308 that has been 100% reliable through thousands of rounds, and it's accuracy is far and above any HK91 style gun. But it is much heavier and it is ultimately a DMR and not a battle rifle like my PTR is. The PTR is a gun you can bury and dig up when the SHTF, along with your Glock 21. The DPMS is a rifle that you shoot prone and on a bipod at targets 400+ meters away.

After getting the C308 I was looking around for mags and came across a guy selling mags and a PTR91 16" barrel for a killer price, so I jumped on that lol. In the last month I have gone from owing no roller lock guns to now having two and maybe looking for more deals.
Grab a few extra extractor springs. If you get a double feed the spring gets over-extended and is toast.

It's the only real weakness of the design.

Iirc, you want the "gold" spring.

Just bought a wide handguard with heat shield ( AC Unity) as well as the snap-on cheek riser for my C308. Think I'll see about smoothing the trigger a bit too.
If you do "smooth" out the trigger post up about how you did it, it is a mod that I am looking to do. I have a good idea how based on other stuff I read about it but would like to see what others can do.

There is a Timney trigger pack for the HK series of rifles, it might be worth the extra two bills to not screw around with sear engagements. I'll see with my gunsmith about what the danger is of ending up with either a nonfunctional rifle or unintentional full auto.

My personal opinion, is that full auto in a shoulder fired 308 of any type, unintentional or not, is dumb as a bag of rocks.
