i have a horton summit 150lb crossbow and i was wondering how long the battery in the reddot scope would last

What kind of red dot scope is it? If you can determine that, you'll be able to contact the manufacturer through their website and find out for sure.

i have had some red dot scopes i still have an aimpoint on my S&W 686 357mag and it's been very good on batterys they last for about 6month to a year depending on how much you use the gun or in your case crossbow.

I like the lightness and accuracy of lasers but when there are no batteries there are no batteries.

Even if you do have it, it would be advisable to train equally without, it wont work forever.

Yeah, I agree with Jinn, eventually you'll have to change to a standard scope or iron sights, so get used to using those as well.
BTW, I've used my red dot for 2 years now, only had to change the batteries once.
