One to add a semi auto in .308 to mycollection (already have ARs, aK-47s, and Ruger mini-30...My choices are DPMS AR-10, CETME or PTR-91. DMPS and PTR-91 are about $1K, CETME is $600-650... Do not want to go over $1K and do not really like to buy used. Please advice only if you own one of the aforementioned brands..Thanks

PTR all the way. I had mine for 5 years. Got a offer on it I could not turn down. It works well.
I recommend looking at arms list for your state and surrounding you can sometimes find good deals. That said I say from your list PTR91 and I think you should also consider the M1A as well
Please, do not get a cetme.

Main choices

PTR-91
FN/FAL
M1A

I dont think you can go wrong with any of them.

The main difference is the PTR-91 and the FN/FAL does not have an exposed bolt and no forward assist. If the bolt does not close, you have to rack the charging handle again.

Remington 750 Woodsmaster - If all you want it a 308 semi-auto rifle, have you looked at the Remington 750 Woodsmaster?

I think the 750 has a 5 round magazine, has either a wood or synthetic stock, semi-auto.

The 750 woodsmaster is going to cost a lot less then a military grade 308 rifle.

If your choices are between the DPMS AR-10, CETME or PTR-91, I would go with the PTR-91.

Out of the rifles you listed, the PTR-91 probably has the lowest cost of ownership. You can pick magazines up for like $1 each.

I own a DPMS LR308 AP4, used to own a CETME and have a friend that has a PTR-91 that I have shot a lot.... That being said the best out of the 3 is the DPMS LR308 AP4 hands down. Value, Price, your getting the most gun out of the DPMS LR308 it shoots the nicest and its the most accurate.

The PTR-91 is next but adding optics is a real pain. My buddy had a costum rail welded on but other than that there is no good solution.

The CETME is hit or miss, I had a good one but it still was not nearly as nice as the PTR or LR308.

Build a quality AR-10, not a DPMS.

Will cost more, but you could space out the cost over time and I think you would be happier with it in the end.

But the PTR-91 is a great choice too :D
Check out the Rock River LAR-8. This is a sort of AR-10 rifle that uses the cheaper FAL magazines and shoots the .308 Winchester rounds. You mount a scope on top of that, use high quality ammo and zero the scope, ammo and rifle to your eyesight and you'll probably fall in love. And, no, you can NOT marry the rifle of your dreams. I checked. All kidding aside, they make great and accurate shooters.
PTR-91
Shop around because they can be had
for about $899 for the GI version.
