What? A truck blow off a bridge into Chesapeake Bay, a couple of tornadoes in Louisiana, and plane tectonic movement in Asia... What is it you are trying to say? That something caused all three of these things that the media won't talk about?

If you believe global warming / climate change is happening, then all this is easy to explain as weather events get more violent and exceed what people expect and have built to withstand.

If you don't believe in change, whether man caused or natural, then you're kind of up a creek as far as understanding what's going on is concerned.

Some of us studied science before "Climate Change" became a political football.

In my opinion, Mother Nature can dish it out much harder than modern society is prepared to take.
The widely reported climate change predictions dramatically understate the worst case.
The worst case is a colder climate, not a warmer climate. A second little ice age is possible.

But I also believe these predictions overstate mans contribution influencing climate change.
The sun and Earths orbital variations are the primary cause of short term changes.
Plate tectonics, and land masses obstructing warm ocean currents, are the primary cause of long term changes.

The real, unvarnished scientific facts show we have enjoyed a much longer, warmer, and more quiescent climate during this interglacial, than any of the prior four interglacial periods.

The current interglacial has lasted longer than previous ones, we are already overdue for a massive shift toward cold.

Believe in climate change or have no answer?

Here is a 2000 year old answer from God!

6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.... 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, Matthew 24:6-12 (ESV)

God was a climate change believer???

I guess that means deniers are on the side of Old Scratch, huh? :D:

How does global warming increase plate tectonic activity? And only in the Pacific Rim and East/Southeast Asia?

And if that was what he was implying, he should have just said it.
What he was implying I can't guess.

But as to plate tectonic activity: The melting of untold tons of ice and shifting of water means a great deal of weight is moving around on the Earth's surface. Compared to the weight of the plates themselves, it's VERY minor. But a lightening of the load on one plate, greater weight on another: When you've got plates already straining against each other almost to the breaking point with tremendous force, how much change does it take to trigger violent events?

Also, the change in distribution of weight may be having an effect on the rate of the Earth's rotation. Like a skater in a spin pulling her arms in. Again, VERY minor. But consider the massive amount of change even a tiny variation in spin can cause, and you might see why certain hot spots would react.

Land is sinking in the San Jose, California area because they keep pumping water out of the ground. So, if something happens (such as an earthquake that splits the ground) and the sea water gets in the entire area will flood, as it is now below sea level.

However I fail to see a common cause with the other disasters you mention! Can you tell us more?

Moccasin,

God is not a climate change believer! He is a climate changer!

Revelation 8:7-12 (NIV)

7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. 8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, 9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. 10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— 11 the name of the star is Wormwood.[a] A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter. 12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.

This PDF shows F0 tornadoes increasing since 1990. Page 2. Similar graph below.

1990 is right about the time the US started creating a network of Doppler weather radar stations. Before claiming the absolute number of F0 tornadoes is drastically increasing, I'd want to make sure that it wasn't just our ability to detect them that's increased.

What I find amusing is that people actually think that climate change is an advent of human intervention. Climate change has been on this planet since the day it harbored an atmosphere and will until the day that either our sun goes Nova or our atmosphere is stripped away from solar winds.

As much as we think we know, we are still imbeciles as a species in that we still do not know all the outside forces that also impact our climate such as solar activity or even gravitational forces among our own galaxy.

Yes, we can poison our waters and we can poison our air but Mother earth will live well past our inability to properly steward the planet.

You're amalgamating several different points. But here's what I consider key. Does it matter if climate change is natural or man-made? If the former, our chances of stopping it, given lack of international cooperation, refusal to believe, and human greed, are small. If the former, those chances are even smaller. Arguing about the cause, at this point, is a game for fools. The consequences of that change and how to survive it, both individually and as a civilization, should be our overriding focus.

It is not.

It is, therefore, every man for himself.

While some may ultimately be looking to blame everything as man made others ultimately follow a different set of bread crumbs globally. Found some that are keeping track of things that continually get hidden by US Corporate/Government controlled media!
That stand up far better then what we hear and see from them!

Globally, glaciers are receding at unprecedented rates and the polar caps are also receding.
What's the point here?
well, carbon dioxide particles in the atmosphere seem to be an issue with global warming, however it is the methane under the polar caps which are of greater concern.
methane release into the atmosphere is far worse that the carbon dioxide issue, so much so that if the polar caps release captured methane into the atmosphere then there is nothing any human can do to stop the planet becoming uninhabitable.
try and google what the consequences of methane release into the atmosphere would be.

I am enjoying the cool air! Low 40s at night is perfect for sleeping. As long as it doesn't freeze and kill my crops I am good to go with cool air.

And the last major hurricane to hit the US was in 2005. Now the man-made climate changers will tell you the lack of hurricane activity is because of mankind using all those fossil fuels. Well all I can say is keep up the good work Mr Mankind - keep those summer grills going after driving to the beach. I don't like seeing hurricanes hitting our coastline.

Seriously doesn't have to be a "major" hurricane. When new folks arrive in the area they see Cat 1 or Cat 2 and are not real concerned, yet when they see what just being grazed by one of these storms they develop a better appreciation. Pretty amazing to look out the window and watch trees falling across vehicles, and have rains so heavy you can't even see 5 foot in circumference oaks blown over in your own back yard.
