My SAS12

I thought that maybe a few of you have not seen one if these yet so I posted a photo of mine.
The mags on the left are 3 round and the mags on the right are 5 round. It is chambered in 2 ¾ but only crimped and U.S. made roll locked shells will fit in the mags S&B are to long. It smooth bore with a modified screw in choke. It has last round hold open and vent rib. The receiver is marked Model SAS12 imported by CIA, Georgia. VT Made in China by XIN SHI DAI on the left side is Century Arms SAS12. It shoots well but the gas port plugs up if it is not kept clean. It is my under standing that it based on a Beretta 3901 shotgun. I shoot at a police range and it drives the LEOs nuts to think that a civilian can own something like this.

Nice! Looks like fun. Thanks for sharing. I've never seen one before. Detachable mags for faster reload I suppose. What's it like to field strip? Are higher cap mags available? What's the barrel length? How is the recoil?
Thank you

Thanks for sharing.
Your welcome
I've never seen one before.
I have only seen one other and it only had a 3 round mag.
Detachable mags for faster reload I suppose.
That and it lets you change the type of ammo.
What's it like to field strip?
One nut and it all comes apart.
Are higher cap mags available?
No. thanks to 922r. They we imported with a 3 and 5 round mag no others we available, in other words each gun cam in with 2 mags and no spares were imported as fare as I know. I have 2 3 round and 7 5 round so there are some guns out there missing a mag. I hunted high and low for mags for a year, I would like to get at least 3 more 5 round mags.
What's the barrel length?
23.5" over all 3'8"
How is the recoil?
Light to moderate depending on load.

Wonder if you could get the Saiga or USAS mag/drum to work with it?
Although I think the last USAS drum I saw was going for $1300.

There is no way a Saiga mag can be made to work I have never seen a USAS mag up close so I do not know about them. It is likely that the Chinese copied the mag from something and there is another mag out there that will work. But this is something I have consider until now.

Stupid LEOs. Some kind of inferiority complexes. A very common problem with LEOs when recognizing they are packing the smaller, inferior gun.

What would they say to my SPAS15, which looks even more bad a*s? Would the inferiority complexes culminate in dyspnea and heart problems?
Why would they have "inferiority complexes" over semi auto shotguns? According to statements the SAS12 "gas port plugs up" and "can only shoot certain shells, because some won't fit in the mag". "SPAS15, which looks even more bad a*s" doesn't make it a valued weapon". The way I see this is that you both are basing your weapons on looks and not the performance. I can take a pump shotgun, combat load it, shoot, feed the 10 round shell tube, stay on target, the whole time you are fumbling to reinsert another 5 round mag. Not bad for a " Stupid LEOs".

For the minded reader I already gave a short review of the SPAS15, because only a few civilians can get their hands onto one in the USA.

It is almost like a Glock, it eats what I feed. And that is quite remarkable for a semi-auto shotgun (leaving the classic hunting-only models out of the discussion). Even the praised Benellis have problems cycling light loads, like bird shot.

And with a SPAS15 you are not bound to the regular 6 shell capacity magazines, 10 shell capacity magazines are also available and even a 20 shell capacity drum magazine is in development (prototype is already available for testing purposes, but as always with small production runs: pricing will be an issue). And concerning fumbling a magazine into the shotgun? Do you use the term fumbling also for inserting a mag into an AR15? Not? There is no fumbling, at least with SPAS15 or Molot...

And yes, the SPAS15 has a very aggressive look, if you compare one to the SAS12. And that is something that some do not like.

One day I decided to have a proper range day so I scraped off the front of the gun cabinet and headed to the range. When I got there were two LEOs at the benches. I pulled out the SAS first and they had a fit but what upset the worst was my 590. I had my back to them when I was loading it and when I popped the tenth round into the tube they asked “ How many does that d___ thing hold?” I told them twelve + one and they went off big time. I just said isn’t America great? They left before I could unzip anything else.

That would be a great deer hunting shotgun. So fare I have hunted deer with a 590, Saiga 20Ga and my SAS12. I hate it when someone says why own it you can not hunt with it. What they do not understand is that the constitution does not say anything about hunting. Once they take away our homeland defense rifles then they will be free to take away there hunting fire arms.

I am amazed at how many people are intimidated by the looks of a different style gun, including LEO's. Ignorance runs through many people from all walks of life. Seems to me that would want more info on a gun they are intimidated by and befriend the person using it. Lord knows I would rather have you and that 20 round drum on my side of the wall.
please post any sorces of mags you come across.
i have a SAS 12 NIB, till i can find a couple more mags for it.

my S-12 gets a negitive reaction from some, duel pistol grips, 10 round mag, and M4 stock.
I love the looks I get when ripping off 20 rounds from my Saiga-12:D::D: :
