Been looking for a hatchet and read a reveiw on using a roofers hammer, So I was in Home depot and this caught my eye..
Carpenter's Half Hatchet
The Vaughan Carpenter's Half Hatchet is forged from American made, high carbon steel with a full polished head and an American hickory handle. Its 3 1/2" cut makes it a fine, standard tool for construction trades or handyman.
Catalog Number Head oz. Weight g. Length in.
SH2 22 625 13
Well I used it at the last campout and it worked wonderful. The notch in the blade is perfect to catch the handle of the Dutch Oven. The 22oz weight has a nice heft to it for splitting wood, and the hammer face makes perfect indentions for the support poles of my tent to fit into. I believe i paid $20.00 plus tax for it.
