Hey Guys

I have started making homemade mres. My version is a little different what i have doene is made every meal individual so i have a drawer of breakfest meals, a drawer of lunch and snack meals and a drawer of main and pudding meals.
So if i was going on a day trip I would just take the lunch meal if you get what i mean.

Breakfest meals include .....

1 serving of Porridge with brown sugar
1 tube of Sweetend condensed milk ( NZ Army rations)
1 15ml container of UHT milk
1 tea bag
1 sugar
1 mint
1 spork
1 ziplock bag

1 serving of muesli ( NZ Army rations)
1 15ml container of UHT milk
1 tea bag
1 sugar
1 mint
1 spork
1 ziplock bag
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 serving of pancakes with syrup
1 15ml container of UHT milk
1 tea bag
1 sugar
1 mint
1 spork
1 zip lock bag

Lunches and snacks include

1 square meal
3 barley sugars
1 chocolate bar
1 pkt dehy fruit ( NZ Army rations)
1 energy drink
2 ginger nuts
1 tea bag
1 sugar
1 15ml container of UHT milk
1 mint

Tuna and crackers
3 barley sugars
1 chocolate bar
1 pkt dehy fruit ( NZ Army rations)
1 energy drink

1 pkg soup

1 small tin creamed rice

so as you can see i never go hungry !!!!!!!!!!

15ML? are you sure? Just for you SLOW folks (A JOKE) that is a half ounce. Is that dehydrated milk? What is a "square meal"? If I understand correctly (and I could be wrong) These seem to require a lot of NZ Army ration components, most likely this works for your location, but in the rest of the world it makes for hard getting. Maybe you should source a few of those components from a local store, just to make you mres a little more source-able for yourself and others?

what will be the expected experation date on these

i just thought of a great homemade mre a big chunk of fruit cake i have a piece from 1980 and i bet its still good and it makes a great paper weight "j/k"

Na i have some mates in the army and they give me the left over of there ration packs but that sweetened condensed milk is the exact same but the army one has different packaging and i get it for free . http://www.onesquaremeal.com/index_noflash.html is the link for the 1 square meal website and the 15ml UHT milk i brought from the petrol station which they use for people when they buy cups of coffe or tea and have alook here for UHT milk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UHT

There's nothing there that can't be substituted by an equivalent at any grocery store anywhere. Thanks Matt, good ideas.
