I've already put up a post about what I should get for my first rifle. I looked at everyones opinions and did some research on the wikipedia my favourite is the 243. winchester. Does anyone know if this rifle has a lot of recoil or not much. I've kinda been comparing the 243. win and the 30-30 model 94 hunting classic, but my father already owns a 30-30 so if I wanted to use one I could just borrow his. I'm really trying to find out more about the 243. win. Thanks for your help!

Felt recoil of the 243 is mild and comparable to the 30-30. The 243 is essentially a .308 win necked down to 6mm, it is an excellent varmit/deer cartridge but is a bit light for game larger than deer.

243 is fine (Recoil wise) for skinny 11 year olds...

No worries.

243 Is a great cartridge with more range, (flatter trajectory) than the 30 30. I would love for someone to come out with an assault style rifle in that caliber, I'd buy one in a hot minute.

My girlfriend who is 4'11" 105 lbs has no problem deer hunting with a .243 (she does use 80 grain bullets but can shoot 100 grain no problem)

You will be fine.

there really is no recoil to mention but i would not go with a 243 i would go to a 30-06 or a 270, a little more recoil with alot more power
