I live in a small town, and I was wondering. Is since municipal water is already chemically treated with chlorine, can it just be poured in a container and stored for future use??

Sorry... I was chatting on phone with a friend, while lurking/answering the forums, at the same time...

Yes.... City water has Chlorine, therefore safe for bottling. However... considering all the chemicals... I have a very very expensive RO system installed at kitchen sink

Guess I shouldn't chat on phone and post on forums at the same time.

EDIT: Would also like to add... I"m a bit of a Water Trivia geek, due to my 20+yrs of fish aquariums and my love of catching mercury laden fish. (catch and release only)

Here's a Historical Trivia Story for ya'll..... Back some yrs ago, I was lurking the Gov EPA site, and found I could enter my zipcode and find out the history of MY Smalltown City Water test results. I learned, that for 3 yrs PRIOR to me moving to this town... this town had REPEATED problems with ARSENIC.... OMG?!?!?! Well... of course THAT got me doing some serious 'googling'.... HOLY!!!

Since I also have 20+ yrs experience as a Family Roots researcher.... (I can't believe I brain farted on this one)... you know all those OLD OLD cemetaries??? They were BURIED in WOODEN coffins.... and... during the turn of the Century, they used Arsenic as an EMBALMING AGENT!!!! Eventually those wooden coffins decompose!

That was the moment I realized WHERE our City Water Tower is located, in comparison to our old old local Cemetary. I almost UPCHUCKED!!!!

Then... I called my cousin and her husband, who live right across the gravel road from an old old cemetary, and begged them to test their well.... guess what? YEP!!!! They tested POSITIVE!!! They now also own a very expensive RO system.

Isn't Arsenic RAT POISON??? So.... we are drinking/cooking tiny amounts of Rat Poison on a daily basis... but... the Gov claims that small amounts daily is OK??? Then we wonder about CANCER rates?

Now think about this... when cooking rice... doesn't that Rice ABSORB ALL THOSE CONTAMINENTS?????
