don't know if ya'll know about this yet, thought i'd pass it along.

the details of the new gun(assault weapons) ban have allready been passed along to the manufactures. the restricted versions are allready in production and on the market. the new ban is a bit more stringent than the clinton ban, just 2 examples: no flash suppresors(not even threaded barrels) no for grips no adjustable buttstocks no new high cap mags and more. ok, that was more than 2. but you get the point. so... if you don't have an ar but want one, get it now (or at least a lower) before this goes into effect. there are 4 gunshops in my area and i'm friends with the people at all of them, this is what i've been told by them. they all know i have no need for another ar type weapon, so i don't think it's bs. especial in light of o's previous coments on the subject.

Get your "gunshop friends" to cough up some data on that. Something along the lines of a manufacturer's change notice email or something along those lines. If the mfg's are not sending out change information to the distributors and dealers, it just is not happening - yet. The industry is way to large to blindside the distributors and dealers with such a change.

You should also take into account that the manufacturer's have always made "ban" style weapons for the communist states that don't allow flash hiders, threaded barrels, fore grips, adjustable stocks, bayo lugs, etc. You already cannot get more than 10 round mags in some states.

I personnally don't think the democrats even have the votes to pass an assault weapons ban......and I don't think the Industry will just surrender with a hellava fight.
They dont have the votes to overcome a filibuster due to us finally winning in Georgia and it looks as if we will win in Minnesota...
Remember, conservative democrats vote with republicans on gun issues....right now and probably next year, I don't think they will try anything.....They may wait until after the mid term gongressional elections to see if their chances will improve....

I agree, and I don't think Obama cares that much about guns.
Most of the sentaors and representatives can probably see this issue is a hot potato at this point anyway.

He does.
He'll keep a low profile on it 'til after the midterms though.
He may even wait out his whole first term.
That said don't be amazed when some new Columbine type thing happens but bigger.

I wish I agree but I don't.

First, there is precedent, Congress passed the proposed bill in the 90's.

Second, the Republicans will not filibuster anything. They are a bunch of wimps and prefer civility over principles. Even if they did, the Democrats can change the rules to require a majority to stop a filibuster.

I think you will see the ban by the 2Q of 2009.

this is fl. and it's good here. no restrictions, unlike places like il. ca. ma. and a few others. just because you don't want to believe it, dosn't mean it's not happening. remember clinton? skifast is right what republicans that are left in office are wimps. they won't stand up to the dem.'s on any thing.

In 1992, the Democrats had 56 Senators, today they have 58. In 92, The Democrats had 258 reps, today they have 256.

In addition, there are plenty of Republicans that favor the ban.

Sklfast,

I think if you look though, overall even after the elections, there are more conservative members of congress than there was in 1990....I read an article on a progun political site a few weeks ago that related as long as we don't lose the two contested senate seats that are still open that with the conservative democrats, our enemies don't have enough votes.....

Unfortunately we may have to deal with a ban. That said it looks like obama and his change team will have their hands full for at least two years before they can get down to guns. Don't be timid though, if you are not in the NRA and you want to keep your gun rights stop talking and start joining. If you do not write your Congressman and Senator start writing.

Well, all that said, do the smart thing and find the stuff you think you might need and start stocking up now. Remember how everything the was "pre-ban" before had it prices shoot through the roof?
Ammo is going to do that too this time.

I have a tendency to think that Obama will probably wait until after a re-election, if that happens, before he tries ANYTHING involving a gun ban. The Democrats got nailed big time after the last AWB and lost a number of incumbent seats because of it so they're tending to be a little bit shy right now of trying to push an AWB through Congress. I think that it has been brought up to them not to try anything with an AWB right now. Timing to the socialists is EVERYTHING and now would not be good timing. Pelosi and Schumer are squawking like they always do but that's a case of too big a mouth overloading their brains and abilities again.

I certainly would hope this is the case but would not count on it at all. Full speed ahead on the preps for me.

Sounds like you dipped a little to much in the cool aide to day FXjohn. I see no signs of the commy libral leaders now in control shying away from this "hot potato" and I for Hoover dam sure have heard nothing from O saying he does not care about taking away our 2nd Amendment rights 1st on his agenda.

Argg! I cant belive what I am hearing from some of you here. The 2nd is going to have to be one of the first things to go in thier commy liberal eyes along with the 1st. I am thinking skifast and 1sflrrp have it right and Rshooter is right when he says join the NRA. It is more important then ever we have a STRONG NRA behind us. Our strength will be in our numbers toghether not as individuals. Sign up everyone you know. An NRA Membership will make a great Christmas gift and when they start getting the real info from the NRA we will have more on our side. http://membership.nrahq.org/default.aspx?campaignid=nranews

HUH?!?!? :xeye:

All the obamanation needs to pass any anti-gun legislation he wants is just three, that's three republitard votes. And for the record, eight of the incumbent republitards who won re-election were co-sponsors of the sweeping gun ban HR1022...............

It'll be no trouble at all for the obamanation to turn most firearms owners into criminals............
