Two of my Buff Orpingtons went broody. Moved them both to a safe place away from the chicken house.

One went to a 6x8 chicken house I no longer use. Other went to a rabbit hutch.

One hen abandoned her clutch.

Other hen went back to sitting on her eggs.

So, now you know it doesn't always work. Just cause she's clucking, hoarding the nest boxs, and acting broody, means she is ready to set on a clutch of eggs. I've thrown hens out of the nest boxes many evenings before they realize they are suppose to set on the roost at night. Some are just contrary. :xeye:
