I've never had a problem with any of them, and I know many, from a few different clubs. Generally 1%'rs will never start any issues with outsiders, as long as you don't start one with them. They have their own code of honor, some more than others. Internal discipline is strong and severe. The guys I know say the hardest part ain't earning your rocker but keeping it. All of them I know are centered around the idea of living in a world outside the system.
Every one of them I've ever known were super respectful to Vets, always offering to buy beers and hang out. HAMC, AOA, Scorpions, and one really old school Pagans Nomad, all pretty decent dudes, more concerned with talking about Panheads and drinking George ****el while listening to Blues music than anything else. I also know the granddaughter of the founder of the Sons of Silence(anyone from CO should know them). Pagans have pretty much died out though for a number of reasons. A significant number of the clubs were founded by Vets as well. They're not really the monsters people think they are, but they don't put up with any BS either. There's many who are capable of doing really bad stuff, but, if you're not involved, generally you won't be. Most are really more worried about making money in their territories as well, from various enterprises some legit and some not so much. That's what the whole Waco shootout was really about.
A bit off topic, but Putin is a member of a biker gang, the Night Wolves. They were originally building ties with the HAMC, but those ties have long since been cut. They've been active in Ukraine and recently got banned in Poland. There's a few Danish MCs fighting alongside the Kurds against ISIS. Pretty BA in my book.
