Hey guys, I'm tired of working on the cabin, and will be taking the weekend after next off to do some hatchet and machette work up at our campsite. I want to build a natural shelter that can accommodate two people and will serve to maximize use of a small to medium campfire. . . it won't be used in rain, but will likely be used in intermittant snows. It can be monolithic permanent.

So, what would you build?

Good call guys. My original idea was a log lean-to with a mud roof, but seeing ray's house changed that up a bit. I like it alot! The warning "you need permission to start a fire" was numerous though.

There is no one perfect shelter. A good shelter is one that you can build with the materials at hand that will protect you from the elements and provide a comfortable place to relax and or sleep.
