Generally speaking it is recommended that you carry one pound of gunpowder (Black Powder) to every two pounds of lead. This of course is ball park measurement because much depends on the calibre of your gun and the powder charge you use.
But consider this, especially if you are using a large calibre flintlock. You should be able to retrieve most of the lead you use from the game you shoot enabling you to remould this used lead into round ball or shot. This means you can carry less lead or more gunpowder, lighten your load or carry more ammunition. One more pound of gunpowder is going to weigh far less than two pounds of lead!

Just a question mate,

The lead shot, is it pure lead which can be very soft possibly fouling the bore, or is it hardened possibly through the melting/moulding process or, antimony or some other additive?

Good question mate.
I dunno about flintlocks but a mate who casts bullets for a .303pygmy (.303 case shortened to about 1.5") uses wheel weights to harden his enough to stop fouling.

Is your flintlock rifled or smoothbore Le Loup?
I remember in my high school history class that when Lewis and Clark made their journey west in North America that they carried powder in lead bottles so that when empty they could melt down a bottle for bullets while they used powder from the next bottle.
Now that is some lateral thinking.
