[Bush Monkey knives]

Just for fun, I Took a Cold Steel Spike Hawk and did some monkey business on it:

stripped paint
closed the set screw hole with a weld
cleaned up all surfaces on the grinder
convex beveled the blade and sharpened the beard
bead blast
blued
etched

next: make a handle out of higher quality ash or some exotic wood suitable for a tool handle - any suggestions?

Hmmm, since the spike hawk seems to have a nautical background, maybe take a wood burning kit and burn some nautical/naval images on the upper part of the handle.

i like how you redone the spike. makes it more tacticool

IF you could get it, Ironwood, Lignum Vitae, or some other woods would be tough enough and durable enough, but also would significantly add to the overall weight. Thing is though, that it is gonna' REALLY cost.
