Was under the impression someone is/was making mags...don't remember who, and maybe it never happens...

The mag issue is something to consider, but as is, its more a hunting rifle for Ak lovers, not the one you have waiting for some fantasy SHTF dream. Stick to normal AK calibers for that, but (assuming the rifle proves to be a winner) the 6.5 AK is a nice option for hunting in my eyes (again, just for the guy who wants to hunt with this rifle style)

I certainly was interested in one for a time, and if I were loaded, I'd have one...

But, I'm honestly growing tired of the AK myself, still a great AP rifle, everything gets boring in time.

magazines arent available, and last i knew VEPR was now banned from import into the US
Magazines can be had & not to mention cspecs http://stores.csspecs.com/coming-soon/ is making them now & IF you're a member over at the ak files theres a thread that cspecs mentions this.

6.5 Grendel magazines here:

https://gunmagwarehouse.com/molot-vepr-oem-6-5-grendel-10-round-polymer-magazine.html

Not to mention that Definitive Arms who does AK kit builds & they also use VEPRs will do this for you https://www.outdoorhub.com/stories/2015/10/13/photos-prototype-6-5-grendel-ak-rework-from-definitive-arms/ For $450 i was told. Definitive Arms does probably the best AK work in this country, they are well known in the AK community. :thumb:

IF CSSpecs comes out with magazines, with VEPRs being banned from import they may feel there isnt enough of a demand or market for it, if you want an AK in 6.5G youre probably better off adding an AR-15 mag adapter and using 6.5 AR mags.. of course, since the 6.5G was tailored to shoehorn into an AR-15 and its limitations you may be better off developing your own cartridge for the AK, a .220 russian necked up to 6.5mm for example would still have the taper to fit and function with standard 7.62x39 mags

Better off developing your own cartridge? A .220 Russian necked up to 6.5mm for example? Last time I checked, the parent case for the 6.5 Grendel was the .220 Russian.

and the taper was almost completely removed in order to pander to the AR-15s limitations and to increase case volume to compensate for the pressure limitations of a fatter cartridge

Hey justin, i just found out about this NEW CMMG in 6.5 Grendel. https://www.cmmginc.com/product/rifle-mkw-15-t-6-5-gren-sbn/

Built on CMMG’s ultra-durable mid-sized platform and featuring the unique PowerBOLT design, the ANVIL is designed to harness the full potential of calibers such as the 6.5 Grendel. While the bolt carrier group is based on CMMG’s Mk3, the unique lower receiver is designed to accept AR15-sized magazines.
This^^^ is very interesting! MK3 is CMMG's .308 AR10.
