It will not go anywhere in my never to be humble opinion. She is a political succubus Demoncrat and is doing this to placate her voters and party. It is political puffery pure and simple and a waste of time. It is also an opportunity to paint a target on the backs of Republicans as the next time something happens with a gun in the home with a child she can point a finger....! Sigh..... it just goes on and on and on....

With that said you can be sure that the conservative voters of Missouri are well aware of her repetitive attempts to introduce bills like this and our elected officials are being contacted daily.

Go get 'em!

Senate Bill 509.

“I am not trying to take away the gun rights of any parents or any other citizens. I believe in the Second Amendment,” Chappelle-Nadal told a St. Louis TV station when the bill previously was introduced.
Okay, maybe your NOT trying to violate 2A, but you are violating 4A and 5A...

Here are the restrictions it would place on parents:
- Make it a misdemeanor for parents failing to notify school officials if they have weapons in their home when children enroll in school. Parents would also have to notify the school if they bought a weapon.
- Parents found guilty of “negligent storage of weapons” could be fined $1,000 and charged with a misdemeanor. Specifically, the bill states that parents can be charged with a misdemeanor by “recklessly storing or leaving a weapon in a manner that is likely to result in the child accessing the weapon if the child obtains access to the weapon and unlawfully carries it to school, kills or injures another person with it, or commits a crime with it.”
I would be calling everytime I purchase a kitchen Knife, heavy flashlight, spray can of paint/WD40/hair stuff, potting soil/dirt/sand, screws, nails, hammer, purse, bottle of beer, key chain, hair spray, garden hose, screw driver, scarf, wire [barbed or electrical], string, rat poison, rope, axe, yarn, shovel, oven cleaner, basically any and every tool, ect. because each of these things has been used as a weapon [or defense in my case] in the past. Boy, would they be tired of me!

Me: I'd like to report that I just bought a 32 oz frame hammer.
them: That's nice. Why are you telling me this?
Me: Because the law states I have to notify you when I buy a weapon.
them: They meant guns.
Me: but they said weapon.
them: but mam, that's not a weapon.
Me: Sure it is
them: They meant things that kill people.
Me: Plenty of folks have been killed with hammers.
them: They mean guns, or other malicious devices.
Me: Then why did they say weapons?
them: because a gun is a weapon.
Me: So is a hammer
them: They really mean guns
Me: So you are refusing to add my hammer to your list of parents with weapons then?
them: Yes, we will not be adding you to our list
Me: But I want my child to be safe. What about some kid bringing his parents hammer to school?
them: We try to screen the children comming in.
Me: Well what about the knife I bought 2 weeks ago? or the Rat poison for the barn and the fertilizor for my garden, and oh, I forgot, I also have a pressure cooker. You wouldn't want to know whose children has access to these malicious devices, so you can make sure no one brings them to school to harm my child?
them: children are not allowed to bring knives to school
Me: Now we're talkin, put me down for 34 knives, then. I'm also thinking of buying a can of hair spray next week. I'll call you then.

Look at the larger liberal agenda. Think of all the laws, taxes, regulations that lib socialist/communists want to pile on. Why?

Not JUST to generate revenue, but to CRIMINALIZE THE INNOCENT, LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.

It's another tactic in their bag of tricks--if they can't outlaw guns outright, pass so many laws that the average gun owner who has no criminal background or history BECOMES a criminal.

It's going to be the same with Obamacare---people who can't cough up the extortionate fees are going to be made into criminals, tax evaders.

Some of the things the woman said didnt even make sense, how would a bill requiring parents to notify their childs school, cut down on car jackings? It was what she said "The senator said she was trying to stop school violence and crimes like carjacking". Not sure how the local school having a list of all the guns in certain peoples homes would prevent a car jacking.

Agree with ATST. You must report all hammers, hatchets, axes, etc. They are indeed weapons of war. All have been used throughout history to maim and kill.

And, let's not even go into all of the chemical weapons you bring into your home. Just check out the MSDS of things you use every day. In fact, make the schools report their own chemical weapons and keep them out of the hands of children.

In other words, elections have consequences and they are getting what they deserve!

Where do these people come up with this s***? Please, if you have children in public school, teach them the importance of keepin their mouth shut.
Yep. I remember having a conversation with Brats kindergarden teachers once, because she didn't know our address and phone number.
I told them when she is old enough to know who to give this information to, I will make sure she knows it.

* I did, however teach her some self defense moves, and that if someone ever tells you NOT to tell your Mom, they are up to no good, and you better keep your distance, and tell me as soon as you can.

Oh my! I just realised I practiced OpSec before it was a thing. Brat is 20 now.

I also wouldn't put her schools bumper sticker on my car, telling her strangers do not need to know where we live or that I have a kid in a certain school.

The problem is that it moves the left-hand "bookend" such that the views which were in the middle now appear further to the right of center. This is how incremental liberalism works. They make nutcase demands, and then, when the "center" appears to be on the right, the Republicans "compromise."

That's exactly how they violate one amendment: by violating another.

The ONLY reason the Second Amendment works is its inherent anonymity. Criminals have reasonable fear of entering every house, because there is more than a 1 in 3 chance that it will have a gun. If they know which houses have guns, they can focus on the unarmed houses with impunity, or bring incongruent force to bear on the people who are armed.

The same is true of a would-be tyrant. The fact that he doesn't know who is willing and able to reply in arms makes him fear everyone. Not so much when he can send goons to specific houses and concentrate greater force in the instant against each individual gun owner. That's how 1 million people could, theoretically, disarm 100 million, should those 100 million be incrementally cowed into submitting.

This bill, should it become law, would be of none effect legally and constitutionally, but they are counting on people complying out of ignorant fear. For example, I recently registered the "assault weapons" that are in a trust that I own, because trusts might not have all of the rights of natural persons, but NOT the ones that I own as a natural person. I know better, but many people do not.
