Would we ever meet? I clean up nice! But maybe I should go kind of rough looking....this is a Survivalist Forum and appearances would be long lasting. Maybe I could go as a character in one of the survivalist films.

The Gift
I went to the store today to buy you a gift. You know, tis the season and all that, so, I wanted to find something special. I felt I had enough money so I started looking around for just the thing.
As I went to and fro, searching for the perfect thing that would tell you how my I care about you, I noticed another person walking through the mall concourse who had a smallish bag from a bargain discount store within the mall. I smiled at the bag that seemed a very small bag to fit the gift for which I was looking. But, then I noticed the smile on that person's face and I knew; they had found the gift they had been searching for because the smile radiated all across their face and out of their eyes.
I'll find my perfect gift too, I thought, and I turned in earnest to continue my shopping adventure. I notice all the children lined up to sit on Santa's lap and whisper a secret wish for just the thing that made their eyes sparkle in anticipation and I knew that feeling. I could find what I was searching for...
It was then that I notice a rather plain box sitting on the floor near the doorway of a well known department store I had planned to visit. The box was just sitting there on the floor, abandoned, like someone had taken their gift out of the box and cast it aside. Well, shoot, I could use that box for my gift to you. So, I quickly picked it up, closed the top and entered the store and began shopping with all my heart. Up one aisle and down the next I went singularly focused. I just knew that I would find what I needed in this store...
Eventually I found myself near the gift wrap area of customer service and there were several patrons waiting to have their purchases wrapped for their special someone. I reasoned that maybe if I could get a peek into someone else's bag or box I might get an idea about that perfect gift that I was searching for so I walked closer to the those waiting. Each bag or box held a gift selected for someone special to the recipient. Each package was wrapped carefully and topped with a bow for the patron by a skilled customer service representative.
Before I knew it, I found myself standing at the wrapping table. Just standing there, looking round at all the shoppers being helped, having their gifts wrapped. It was then that I thought of one special gift, one of the very first gifts ever given a very long time ago. I remembered the significance of that gift and thought about you and me and all that we've shared together. Right there I knew,...I carefully opened my box and began to fill my box with memories and love for you.
The dreams and hopes and wishes that we had shared over the years spilled out of my mind, out of my eyes as tears and as love for you. I couldn't hold it all and it filled the box almost immediately, but then it spilled out onto the floor, leaking into the corners of the store, around the legs of people still waiting to have their purchases wrapped and out into the mall corridor. I couldn't catch it all and it was going everywhere, getting on everything and everyone. Then I noticed the person next to me smile warm and genuine smile and say, “Merry Christmas,” to the person next to them. The love was getting into everyone and it was like magic. I watched a customer service person hand someone their package and happily say, “Merry Christmas.”
I heard a child laugh and someone was singing a line from a Christmas carol so I turned to see a small boy hand the toy he was holding like a cherished treasure to the complete stranger standing next to him. I noticed the joy of love fill the air around this pair and I remembered my shopping adventure. I remembered of all the gifts that had seen and wondered, “is this the one?” It was then that I KNEW. I knew I had found it. The box was filled to overflowing so I carefully closed the lid and asked to have it wrapped for you.
I hope you are well and this gift fills you with all the love you'll ever need. I hope you find it in your heart to give this gift to someone you know who needs it and that just maybe, together, we can affect a tiny change in the lives of those around like happened in that store that day. And, like it happened so very long ago when the greatest gift of love was presented. I hope you know that I love you and that I wish for peace, hope and love for you today and always.
