I have a Vogelzand PB65XL cast iron stove. Spent most of it's life on a screened porch not being used. It had rust and various paint that has faded out white. I wire brushed off the rust, used a wire bit on some of the more severe areas. It's not brushed smooth just the rust and dirt knocked off. I vacuumed everything after burshing. I bought Mecco's polish because Imperial paste is not avail. The Mecco's liquid polish says not to apply to bare metal? The manufacturer recommends I prime the stove before I polish it. It also says it should be above 60 degrees before I apply it. We are currently in the high 30's. I thought polish when directly on the bare cast iron stove? Please tell me how YOU use this polish and personal experience with it. Tell me how to make my stove look nice before it rusts before I install it..
