I was wondering if anyone has put these on an AR. I recently aquired an M4 style carbine and it is my first AR style rifle so I'm pretty unfamiliar with it. I think the guy who built it used some pretty decent quality parts, but he neglected to put on a set of fixed sights and instead just had a scope which was mounted on a raised rail, which I didn't care for and am going to use on something else. Anyway, my question is are these MBUS sights any good? I will eventually put a dot on this thing, and would like for it to cowitness, but due to the fact that it has a heavy barrel with no front sight post I need to mount the front sight either on the gas block (which might cause heat problems?) or at the front of the handrail.

Here is a link and some poor quality pics. Any advice will be appreciated.

I have the Magpul rear flip up sights and really like them. I have heard good things about Troy flip ups also but they are just a bit more $$$. Some sights offer price cuts/deals if you buy both at the same time. What kind of AR is that? I could not really tell what the symbol was on the lower.

To answer Kaiser's question, the lower is an older Lauer with the SML prefix, so it's an LMT. The upper and the adjustable buttstock are Model 1. I have been perusing Model 1's website and found some other options for sights. I might even end up putting a sight post on the barrel. Has anyone around here done that?

The Magpul front sight (which is made from polymer) can not be used on the front gas block because the heat will cause it to melt. I went with a Mid West Industries folding front gas block sight. (made of aluminum) Works great!
