Looking for a training area

I live in nyc and I am looking for a wilderness training ground if there is such a thing. And no i do not want to pay 1000's of $ for classes. I was hoping to find a place in the Appalachian Mountain range somewhere or really anywhere near NYC that i can go and properly do some wilderness survival without the interruptions on society.

Hello and welcome!
I'm not familiar with your area, are you looking for an 'official' training area, or just want to get out in the woods for a while?
Plenty of beautiful outdoors up there to experience.
If you want to do some shooting, I'm guessing you would need to find a range.
