The following YouTube video introduces the air rifle Lewis and Clark used on their famed expedition. The video's host states that the success of their mission, and the future of the U.S. were changed by the possession of this accurate, silent and rapid firing rifle.

Several times on this board we've seen people ask about investing in an air rifle for their preps. Many have downplayed that idea but it appears that there is a tactical and practical purpose for them after all.

No powder or reloading required. Sounds like a fine idea for a specific purpose. Now, where can I get my hands on a modern air repeater? :)

That's a hefty price tag but a good deal of power for a gun that fires quietly. Stocking ammo would be really easy for this one as well. Plus, it's a great looking gun and a fantastic show piece.

Monkeymate- How's the quality of your Benjamin? Would it stand up to significant use?

A modern air repeater in a large caliurber would be a .68cal airgun (paintball marker), they are able to expel a projectile from 300 to 500 fps, they carry a 3000 psi tank of co2 that allows up to 800 to 1000 shots before needing refilled, your able to carry lock and loaded up to 200 rounds in a upper hopper.

Yet shooting paintballs are not going to do much damage. Thats why you would want to get some of these 98 grain 6 gram solid projectile.

I mean really how many of those 200 rounds in the gun can a bad guy take at 40 foot pounds of blunt force trama? Not many, only 1 if its a head shot.

I see your pretty close to portland, Come on down and will do a little shooting, you'ed be impressed.
