Okay, couple things come to mind. 1: pull the Chicago screws around the claw and create a kydex or maybe aluminum underlay to reinforce and make completely rigid. 2: Scrap the claw/wing altogether. 3: Separate the gun holster and mag holster.
I think #3 is your best bet. Seems like you are just getting too much pressure on that area where the claw is attached.
Ive tried a couple seperated setups but have not found the magazine portion to ever be the problem.
I have cracked 1 holster without a claw attached magazine carrier and i hated donning on doffing that setup.
The claw design is such a performance enhacement, it makes a huge difference in concealment.
The biggest con of a seperated setup is the added complexity- its just another thing to move around and deal with. I know thats a PITA and i can just deal with it but it really is extremely conveinent to have that system attached.
Here is a custom holster i made from a .093 kydex aiwb holster and attached a magazine pouch to it (the one i mentioned for m&p fullsize)
Its ugly as sin but you cant tell once its on and i was able to fully conceal a fullsize under a light Tshirt. The mounting plate was made from .125" kydex- it took alot of tuning with a heatgun to conceal properly.
Mfer was heavy, i wore a 1.75" belt with it.
Cracked it
Your #1 suggestion is something ive been thinking about alot recently. Perhaps if i can spread the force out more over a greater surface the reinforcement will hold. Its tough trying to find the right setup to try it on! I was thinking perhaps if i kept the holster cut long i could loop a portion of an custom cut billet aluminum reinforcement to the other holster clip and reaallly spread the force out.
Its likely the next thing i may try out unless i can think of a more elegant solution.
