Do you think it would be a good idea to refrigerate mre's at 40-45 degrees or so to add to the shelf life, or do you think that would be unnecessary?

That would greatly extend the life of them, the closer to freezing the better. But don't freeze them it can break the sealed bags.

10 degrees makes a big difference in shelf life considering:
MRE's will last 1month at 120*
76 months at 80*
100 months at 70*
130 at 60*
I have seen no data for temps below 60* but going by the scale ,I would assume shelf life would continue to increase.
