Recently added to my collection an old JC Higgins Model 20 I inherited from my grandfather. I believe this gun to be in great shooting shape, but it's been about twenty years since I've shot it. Wondering if anyone has had issues with these and what they might be.

No real issues. A clone of the High Standard Model 200, it was marketed by Sears and Roebuck in the 1940's and 50's. Reliable and parts still available from egunparts.com. If the barrel is at stock issued length, I would determine WHAT choke the shotgun has before I fired slugs from it. Some entertaining reading on the topic:
