IMHO if you haven't bolstered your stores and checked your pantry you are already behind the power curve.
At the Peak of "Covid Round 1" Not a soul in this Nation (the US, I'm sure similar was going on elsewhere) did not SEE the result of Single Point of Failure in the Supply Chains, be it One of just two or three manufacturers being shutdown for the Plandemic, Transportation Issues, Hoarding or Trickle Down (aka This can't be produced because some ingredient or sub assembly can't be had) everyone saw it and anyone paying attention should know that things have only marginally recovered. And IMO we have much worse to come and it's just starting to show.
Today I went shopping at my local Wally Chi-Com Mart and for the first time EVER they were out of Duke's Mayonnaise! (if you're not from or a long time resident of the South You Just Don't know how bid a Deal that is!) ... and as I have been Noticing already right now most products are available, but not all the usually stocked brands, and the Stores are spreading the Inventory out to make the shelves look better stocked that they are.
So if your thinking "maybe I should get an extra can of...." Extend that thought out and pretend that you're at a Base Camp and winter's close with the next resupply months' out. Now I'm not saying buy things beyond what you can consume before they are no good (which is usually well beyond the "best by" date), but go by the rule "If you Fail to Plan, You Plan to Fail".
And look for ways to be able to get around, or alternate methods for taking care of essentials. When everyone started going haywire over Toilet Paper I ordered a Bidet that Tees into the Toilet water line... It was like $20 and just a couple of minutes to install. I didn't run out of TP, but if I did the problem was already solved.
Have a Camp Stove? ... Buy an adapter to use a standard grill gas bottle and maybe a spare tank. Ditto for having a supply of Rechargeable Batteries and a Charger or Two. Think outside the box Now, because when things become an issue Odds are that the work arounds will disappear fast in short order (or you will be Gouged to get them).
Basic Handy Repair Supplies and the knowledge to use them are another outside the consumer box item to keep on hand. Just today I when I checked my game cameras to my dismay I found that the battery holder on one of them had cracked and a piece fell off rendering it unusable. My first thought was "Dang! Now I need another one and it's the start of Deer Season so they are in short supply and prices are Jacked way up." When I went to the store I checked just to confirm and both were true. So when I got home I cleaned up the parts and Epoxy to the Rescue (which I already have for just such things). An hour later and I'm back in business for less than $5 that I already spent. It doesn't have to look pretty, it just has to work.
Anyway... Sorry for the bit of a Rant, But it Chaps my Arse that for all the years spent Supporting this Nation it's a bitter pill to swallow watching Crooked Commie Politicrats Burning this Nation Down!
