Hi all
As I have stated in my introductory msg, i am Italian and I live in Italy.
The situation is really complex. This law, created by the government that i support and that I have voted for is the usual compromise we always do here in Italy (I guess we can change the name of the country to compromise-compromised-land.. :-( ) but it is like closing the stable when the horse already fled..
Since 1991 we had massive immigration, starting from Albania then and the rest of the mideterranean(sp) basin..
immigration is not bad on its own, the problem is the "second step": integration
there must be a ONE-to-ONE ratio: one immigrant = one integrated person.
For integrated I don't mean somebody that has to change his religion (freedom of religion is granted by ours costitution).
Integration pass trough jobs finding, language learning, local economy support/activity (intended as wealth redistribution) and the like.. what happen if:
chinese community self-secluded into ghetto, they don't pay tax, doing this let them produce on-site at a lot lower price than italian company, mainly in leather working and clothing industry and even worse if they send all the money back to china? We have very big industrial compound (in Veneto and Tuscany) suffering from a deep crisis and occupational level drop (a lot before the ongoing crysis) same around here for indian and pakistan immigrant just different industry involved (food and stuff).

The effect of this law, on immigrant on the Italian territory is almost nil: none will ask them the money, they will spend a few days to a week in jail and then they will be "rewarded" with a one-way-only ticket for train/ship/plane to another nation (if they have relatives in other european country we have to let em go there) and stuff..
it is most likly a "marketing" attempt to spread the word: "don't go there, they are bad.." but it is all smoke and no beef..

and right now S have litterally HTF due to the turmoil in north Africa and the Libian "low intensity" war..

I think it might be already. Charles Martel and Charlemagne would be sent to the Hague today and Europeans will keep telling themselves there's nothing going wrong, and if there WAS they would just overcome it without effort or intention anyway.
